Im not being a jerk! Im telling the truth! These recruters and trucking schools tell all these newbees a bunch of sh/t! Thet will find a lot of negativity and hostility toward them. The money that they can earn is NOT what these people are telling them. Their aint many other jobs that need recruters to try and "sell" the job like a used car to an unsuspecting person that dont know an thing about it. Used car sales men only tell someone the good about a used car not the bad. Trucking recruters and trucking schools do the same thing. It time some one that knows tells a neew bee or want to be driver the truth about trucking.
Now Im gonna be a jerk! This is a free country and this is a forum that is free to post my oppinion on. If you dont like my post and my negitivity towarws the trucking industry DONT READ THEM! I personal find the trucking industry to be very hostile and very negitive. You have more responsibility than almost any 40 hr a week job with all the regulations we need to follow but the compinsation we get dont reflect it. We have some pee on sitting at his computer telling us what to do that dont have a clue what the he// hes doing. What we can legaly do. If we dont do what they say we will be fired or atleast black listed. We have four wheelers cutting us off and putting us in danger every day because they are to bussy to be patient for a few seconds with us. We have the DOT that are a bunch of vulchers breathing down or necks all the time. I want my truck safe but that aint what their about anymore. Their revenuer's. Its all about the money with DOT anymore. The shippers and recievers treat the drivers like the scum of the earth. The truck stops are filthy and a lot of the time their aint no parking anyway. I honestly cant think of to muck good about trucking any more. Thats why Im telling anyone that wants to get into trucking to run like he// from it. As far as me being a negitive person, Im not, every thing else in my life is fine. Its just the trucking industry that I think sucks and I will keep telling any new bee that till it gets better. I hope it will. I think the biggest reason that its this way is the econemy. 10 years ago I thought it was pretty good. I would have told anyone to do it. Not now. If it gets good again then I will change my tune. Till then I gonna tell people to stay away. Hopfully CSA 2010 will weed out some of the bad drivers and companies. Then we will get more respect and more money for what we do. I fell that is the biggest thing we as drivers lack. Respect. The general public, Includeing shippers, recievers, our own dispatchers and people in general have no idea how hard our job is. It dont help when the company lies to the shipper or reciver and your the one that shows up at the door. Then we get the negitivity from them.
Sorry you dont like my point of veiw but thats how I feel and and what I will tell anyone till things change.

Good morning, I'm sorry for setting off a heated discussion, I have respect for all of you out there on the road and I certainly appreciate your willingness to be honest and up front - no matter how negative it may come across. I have heard about the dishonesty and inconsiderate dealings going on out there regarding trucking and trucking schools. It's probably not a good idea for me, especially since the idea initially came from an ex con who ran into a relative working in Afghanistan. I've been trying to find a better source of income, including contract work in Afghanistan, ever since I found out I was among the victims of a huge mortgage Ponzi scheme - where a couple of guys not only lied to me, they essentially cost me my home in Dunedin, about $300k. Although the mortgage company, FRM, has been closed since last November and the two guys, Farah and Dodge, have already plea bargained, I'm among over a hundred people that have lost most of our life savings. The ex con working in Afghanistan claims to have made over $100k as an O/O before being suspended for too many tickets and I had been trying to research the idea of using whatever funds I could scrape up to get on the road with my own operation after gaining some experience. My family time isn't as important to me as trying to salvage the future of the members of my family, I've owned my own business before where I worked 7 days a week for years. Again, I'm sorry to have caused any ill feelings for any of you out there, I'm just trying to find my way. If I'm willing to work in Afghanistan, I didn't think driving the roads across the US would be so bad. Thanks again for any of you reaching out to let me know what it's like out there, I wish you all safe passage and the respect and consideration you deserve.

Most people here are willing to share their perspective as they see it.
It seems some have spats, but these heated exchanges are based on determined minds wanting to get the most reliable facts clearly expressed.

I've never read anything really nasty here from posters who've been around awhile.

Examine what they write with an open mind and do you homework.

Lots of wisdom and insight can be found here. Use it for all it's worth.
