I've been thinking about getting my ham license lately but after taking a practice test I realized I still need to do a lot of studying. Can anybody recommend an online study guide? Thanks.

Hamstudy.org is about the best and the web version is free. They offer a phone app for $4.

Ham universe has a lot of good info on getting your ticket.

ABC's OF GETTING A HAM RADIO LICENSE - GET YOUR LICENSE MATERIAL HERE- BOOKS AND STUDY INFO

Looks like the study book they recommend is on Amazon. I would get the book, that way you can high lite important information while you study. They also have an online study link too. To me the bad part about the online would be if you printed a lot of info, that could get pretty expensive, considering the cost of ink and paper.

If you can find someone in your area that does the class/testing in one day, then buy one of the books and study for the class. When I did both my Tech and General, I bought the book for tech, read it a couple hours per week for about two months, then signed up for a local class/testing group. It was an 8 hr Saturday, they 6.5 hrs going over everything out of the book, and stuff not in the book, giving sample questions (which were on the test), making sure you understood everything, then we did the test. I did the same for General, I will say this, Tech is pretty simple to pass, I studied at my own pace for 3 months before the class (the classes were only offered quarterly) and passed fairly easily. Two years later I did my General, studied for probably 6 months, spent 8 hrs in class, had to take the test twice and still barely passed the second time.

Search online or Facebook to see if you have any HAM Radio groups in your area, many of them have ELMER meetings, where people new to the hobby can attend, learn things, some will also do 1 or 2 hour classes, they will also recommend or may sponsor testing sessions.

    Here's a great source W5YI : Resources for Amateur & Commercial Radio

The W5YI Group has books and CD study guides.

Dave Casler KE0OG, Kilo Edward zed Ocean George. Has very good videos on Youtube, to assist you with getting your license, he teaches right out of the ARRL study guides, you can order a study guide from ARRL for the license your going after, Tech (beginners) General ( a bit more advance, and Extra Class ( Top License). When you test for tech, its jhust the one test, if you go for General or Extra you have to take the ones below as well, Anyhow used Dave's study videos found them interesting and helpful.
