Only other deer I've ever hit was several years ago as a company driver for a different carrier....that freightshaker didn't fare near as well.

I was able to straighten that out pretty well once I got it home, though....

I came real closes last week, so I order an Pro Guard for my Volvo.

Now I run over deer, raccoons or what ever animal is standing in the highway, no more hitting the brakes, just run them over! -
I almost wish it had been a deer. Instead, I hit something of the bovine persuasion tonight.
I guess the good part is that it has... correction... had... an owner. -
Stupid horned lemmings!

Wouldn't it just make sense to get one of these bad boys and care less if a stupid deer steps out in front? -
While that can potentially reduce some of the damage it doesn't eliminate the problem. If an animal goes under the vehicle it can tear off brake pods, air lines, fuel lines, electrical, etc. A glancing blow can cause the animal to spin and puncture fuel tanks or cause additional damage to the truck, trailer or load. Regardless of what bad-boy bumper is installed it is best to avoid hitting things.

I have hit 4 deer in my CDL driving time and these are Michigan deer, not them tiny southern deer. Only 1 of them broke anything (my grill surround), the other 3 just tore off the plastic cover on my bumper (FLD) and 1 took out the car behind me too..... best thing you can do is treat it like a punch, just drive thru it and don't hit the breaks.
Now I did have a turkey fly from the median and up thru my passenger side windshiled on my 5th trip back in 2003....that was scarry!! -
Hit one earlier this year on the PA turnpike with my Volvo 780. Stupid thing was just standing in the road. Didnt run out in front of me, it was just standing there! Got it down to 50 but it still went splat. Best thing about it though, was zero damage to the truck. Just a long streak of blood down the side of the bumper. Got some raised eyebrows that morning in Kentucky...lol
