Christopher 'Afroduck' Tang posts dashcam video of his 'world record' 24 minute lap around Manhattan on Aug 28, cops track him down and arrest him a week later

Authorities have identified the driver who allegedly posted an Internet video of himself speeding around Manhattan in just over 24 minutes.

Police on Thursday arrested 30-year-old Christopher Adam Tang of Manhattan after tracking him through his IP address, according to law enforcement sources. They charged him with reckless driving, reckless endangerment and other misdemeanor charges. Police also seized his 2006 BMW Z4.

Sources said Tang has a Canadian driver's license. It was revoked by a judge Thursday, along with his passport.

The video was posted on Aug. 28 with a description claiming the driver had set a record for the fastest loop around Manhattan.

Through a camera mounted on the dashboard, the video records the car traveling southbound on the FDR Drive from 116th Street to Battery Park and then up West Street back to 116th Street. Along the 26.4-mile loop, it stops for six red lights.

Electronic dance music provides the soundtrack as a stopwatch superimposed on the screen keeps time: 24 minutes and 7 seconds.

The Canadian national, who said he studied economics and political science in college, has lived in New York for several years with his wife. Prosecutors said he has previous traffic violations and that he has admitted to once driving 4,000 miles in 38 hours.

Bail for Tang was set at $10,500. He declined Legal Aid representation, telling the court he made enough money as a self-employed day trader to hire his own attorney.

Texting driver in rental car hits manure trailer

LANCASTER, Wisconsin How do you explain this to your rental car company?

A Wisconsin man driving a rental car crashed into a tractor pulling a trailer full of liquid manure on Monday, reported the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

The crash was reported on Highway 151 in Grant County, Wisc., at 11:34 a.m.

The Sheriff's Department said Matthew Bruhn, 37, was driving a Ford Mustang convertible that he rented from Avis.

Authorities said Bruhn was finishing texting and talking on his phone when he looked up just in time to see the tractor seconds before the crash.

The driver of the tractor was not seriously hurt. Bruhn was treated for a broken finger. The crash remains under investigation.

UT: Dump truck driver slams tail gate, truck rolls down 40 foot embankment

The driver had just finished dumping the load and stated he set the park brake. He then went to the back of the truck to make sure the load was completely empty. While at the back of the truck he slammed the tail gate and the truck started rolling forward. The truck continued over the sidewalk and off the roadway and down a 40 foot embankment. The truck rolled onto its side and came to rest at the end of the embankment. The driver was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident and no injuries were reported. Officers are conducting further investigation to determine what caused the truck to roll away.

Hurricane Fire and Rescue responded to assist with any possible fluid spills and/or fire risks.

Heavy equipment will have to be brought in to remove the Semi and trailer from that area.

Mechanical failure - fortunately nobody hurt

CO: Couple survives after car crushed by lumber that fell off truck on I-70 near Georgetown

They were driving back to Denver early Friday when they noticed a lumber truck spewing smoke on I-70 east of the Continental Divide.

We had just come out of the Eisenhower Tunnel, Albert Watkins told 7NEWS.

There was a cluster of vehicles. We saw the truck with smoke. We watched. It looked like he was slowing down and under control.

Watkins says that a few minutes later, the truck began passing everyone in the right lane.

I told Julie, the trucks in trouble, he said. And a few seconds later I said, were in trouble.

The truck, driven by Justin Knapp, began fishtailing and slammed into the Watkins rental car, pushing it into the guard rail and spilling its load of lumber onto their car and all over the highway.

The truck driver told authorities that his truck lost oil pressure and that the engine seized up.

There was no power for the brakes or the horn, he said.

AK: Pickup driver cited for pushing disabled vehicle for miles, causing accident with semi

Patrick Crandall, 41, of Wasilla, was northbound on the highway in a red 2006 Freightliner semi truck towing two fully loaded flat-bed freight trailers.

For several miles he was stuck behind the Wiertsemas. Heres how troopers describe what they were up to:

Sharon was operating her 1993 red Chevrolet pickup northbound while pushing a disabled vehicle with her bumper. The disabled vehicle was not connected to the other vehicle by any sort of linking device and was being steered by Harlan Wiertsema.

When Crandall eventually tried to pass the two vehicles in a passing zone, at that same moment the two vehicles turned left in front of him without warning, according to troopers.

The Freightliner sideswiped the pickup. Both were damaged. There was no damage to the disabled vehicle. No one was hurt.

Sharon Wiertsema was charged with not exercising due care to avoid a crash and for using improper towing equipment. Harlan Wiertsema was summonsed for driving without a valid license.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if the engine stops, wouldn't the wheels stop, too?? Unless he used the clutch? And since when do you need the engine running to apply the brakes or use the horn? I think this driver is as new as they come and/or a dumb $4it!!
