You got that right... That driver's story holds water like a sieve. It doesn't say which type of trans he had (manual or auto), but a truly seized engine might cause his tractor drive wheels to lock, causing a drive axle lockup/skid, but he also implied he had "no power for brakes", which is total BS. Did his air pressure mysteriously vanish with his oil pressure?? LOL No spring brakes either? The seized engine sounds like BS also. Story doesn't add up.
OK: Semi Leaves Turner Turnpike, Crashes Through Oakhurst Neighborhood OAKHURST, Oklahoma - A semi left the Turner Turnpike and crashed through an Oakhurst neighborhood Sunday afternoon. The truck narrowly missed several houses before coming to a stop. One homeowner said the 18-wheeler came within a few feet of his children's bedroom at an estimated 60 miles per hour. Another man said he and his wife had to jump out of the way when the truck came to a stop in his yard. Witnesses say the truck was westbound on the turnpike near the Tulsa gate when it left the highway for unknown reasons. The truck was hauling a forklift and some heavy machinery. There was a trail of downed trees, fences and truck parts for about a quarter-mile stretch from the turnpike. The truck driver was taken to the hospital with injuries including cuts to his face.
Woman Pulled Over For Breastfeeding On A Moped Busy moms have to multitask, but a woman in Yuzhou, China, recently got stopped by police for breastfeeding her 18-month-old son while riding on a moped. The young mom was allegedly weaving her scooter through traffic while holding her 18-month-old son in her arms, when the kid started crying, the Hollywood Gossip reported. Witnesses said the mom started to breastfeed the child while keeping a hand on the handlebars, Orange News reported. Officers pulled over the woman before she caused an accident. "She was risking her life, her son's life and the lives of all the other road users," a police spokesman said according to the website. "We told her that if she carried on we would confiscate her bike," they added. The unidentified woman isn't the first mom accused of this sort of distracted driving. In June 2008, Catherine Donkers, 29, was accused of child endangerment for trying to breastfeed her daughter while driving from Detroit to Pittsburgh on the Ohio Turnpike. She was also cited for not having a license. Donkers told ABC News that she thought the citation was out of line and planned to fight it all the way. "It's not like I'm trying to change a diaper while I'm driving, she pretty much just lays there on the pillow in my lap," she said. "I would certainly submit that talking on a cell phone causes far more distraction than nursing a child while she's just laying there." In February, 2009, police in Kettering, Ohio, pulled over Genine Compton because she was allegedly breast feeding and talking on the cell phone while driving, WHIO-TV reported. She reportedly had the child in the lap with the baby's head up against the steering wheel, adding not only the risk of injury if there was a crash, but possible deployment of the airbag. Although she was issued citations for child endangering and violating the child restraint law, she told the station, "If my child's hungry, I'm going to feed it."
tragic... but there's gotta be more to this story Woman accidentally crushes partner under truck after fight MONTREAL -- A 59-year-old woman crushed her 50-year-old partner under the wheels of a tractor-trailer Saturday night after the couple argued on the side of a highway west of Montreal, police said. The man suffered serious injuries and died in hospital, provincial police spokesman Daniel Thibaudeau said. Thibaudeau said the couple, from Nova Scotia, began arguing in their tractor-trailer Saturday night and decided to pull over on a highway in Coteau-du-Lac, Que., 60 km west of Montreal. "The couple were outside the truck and the fighting continued," Thibaudeau said, adding that the woman got back in the truck and drove off without her partner. "After driving only a few metres she noticed that (the 50-year-old man) was lying on the pavement. She stopped the truck and found the man crushed under the wheels," he said. Police questioned the woman but have yet to decide if they will lay criminal charges against her.
Hmm... The man realizes she's serious about leaving. He tries to climb onto the running board or the platform, but slips and ends up under the drive wheels?
"Are you sure you didnt order door to door forklift service? I was running a few minutes late, so i just took a quick shortcut... while shaving. #### curbs and potholes!"
4000 miles in 38 hours and were only allowed to log maybe 1400 in the same amount of time?!?! WTF?!?! God help us all.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was just following faulty GPS directions. "Well, officer, the GPS doohickey told me to take a road that wasn't there but I'm not allowed to think for myself so I just kept going..." At least now the road is sort of there. I live on a dead-end north/south road that Google maps, Sprint navigation, and all the rest show going through to the next street south of us but it doesn't and it never did. We get misdirected semis all the time though I haven't seen this happen yet.
