I agree, I think it may be been a little better (not much), if the positive test would not have came from a pre-employment screen. I think that unless he finds some small, outlaw company, it's going to be a long time before someone trusts him enough, to hire him.

Sorry, bad choice on your part.

You can get "medical" cards here in CO pretty easily. From what I hear, anyhow. I've never tried obtaining one, nor had any interest in it.
All the same, this job is dictated by FMCSR - the feds - who say weed is illegal. Even with the medical marijuana card, it remains illegal - just unenforced.
All I can really say is you should've known better. I'm sure most of us have had periods of experimentation and such... and promptly got over it. We could carry on a debate forever about whether it should be illegal or not, but the simple fact of the matter is that it is. If you use it, you do so at your own risk. Campaign to change the law or whatever, but for now, it would seem you're pretty much SOL.

I'm not sure what is worst for you in the long run. But I don't want either on the road.

I think you're confusing the word "MISTAKE" with the word "ACCIDENT".

It is about what I expected, and pretty much deserve. Fact is I have held down safety sensitive jobs for years, and undergone random testing never having a problem.

The false assumptions some seem to need to make are simply relegated to the "consider the source" bin.

I am only interested in oilfield work so small comapnies are where I will be looking. I will check my DAC but from what I have read a pre-employment screen isn't going to be recorded there just the randoms.

How will I explain being fired after a week? Simple, I will lie and not list the job at all. Not my first choice but if it is what needs to be done so I can get on with my life, that is what I will do.

Thanks to all that had some facts on the subject to share. Good Luck remaining a perfect specimen of the american trucker, what an impressive accomplishment.
