If the time comes you ever do buy your own trailer maybe look into getting a converahopper. There a little heavier than a regular hopper and a little more work but there very versatile and you can always find a load.

It might have been a typo on your post but your wheat load will pay 60 cents a bushel and not $60 a ton. Grain will pay by the bushel. Feed products and fertilizer will pay by the ton.

Always face the wind or have it at your tail when its windy.

If its windy out I throw a rope over the trailer and tie to to keep the tarp in place. Since its the end of winter you won't have to worry about your tarp icing up!

Not sure if all states follow that. Pretty sure mn has shortened it up that the DOT needs to review the scale tickets within 14 days. After that you got away with it.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

I was told (by a driver, not a trooper) that MN only audits scale tickets back as far as two weeks. He should be a good source, because he received a nice letter from the DOT for being 2300lb over.

NDDOT does not audit elevator scale tickets. Plus, overweight fines here are a pittance compared to neigboring states. MN and SD I know from experience.

It amazes me when you are waiting to pull on the scale and the guy ahead of you is in the high 80's or low 90's.

    Just doesn't seem worth it.

No matter how many times I've read similar posts where guys are talking about weights, I'm always surprised for a split second. Seems so many other states are 80k maybe 90k max and its enforced pretty tight it seem.. CAn you guys get heavy permits or is there no choice??
If there's maybe one thing NY is good for its being able to run heavy(with permits) We don't even pull out of the yard if we're not grossing out at least around 100k(were permitted to 102k w/5 axles. Can also get permits for 107 w/6 axles, there's 1 more tier I think but dont know it)
