Regardless of what you're saying a gps is invaluable especially to someone that gets paid to drive. Anyone disputing that is just being stubborn. Over and out.

I didn't dispute its uses. I mentioned the negative consequences of it. a generation that failed to learn a valuable skill because they rely on a GPS. A gps is like my electric impact. It adds to my other tools, ir doesn't replace them. There is a reason pilot's must still learn how to navigate the old fashion way with nautical charts. My g2000 is a great flight deck, but I'm not even allowed to take off without updated paper charts and my old aluminum flight computer. That's right, a piece of aluminum with numbers and lines drawn on it is called a computer.

I kind of understand your thinking, but exactly what does it do that wasn't done since the horse and buggy days? I have not been down in the lower 48 trucking for a little over ten years, have they moved some towns, do they really have very many new towns, moved the interstates or what?I can see the point in having one, but I would never replace an atlas with one and the thinking that one is a must have is just wrong.

Not to mention creating a whole generation that does not learn to interact with other people at all or even have any friends at all.

They think those people liking their posts on Facebook are friends. I wonder how many of those facebook friends are gonna show up with bags of food and firewood for the fireplace when you get laid up for 6 months with a broken back or hip?

A friend is real. I don't have many of them but the ones I have are rock solid. I could die tonight and I know my kids will never go cold or hungry and my son wil have a strong male influence to show him how to be a man. That's what a friend is.

Lol, Maybe so, but I will tell you this, I am sure glad I lived the period I did.
Hell what we did for fun when I was young gets you a prison sentance these days.
I see young guys now afraid to even ask gals for a date, afraid of what can come of a gal making something bad up about one.
I have heard the specs on how many stay on the parents teat, even after they are married and have kids. The specs of how much the percentages of how many live in their parents basement and plays online never having a friend in person, is down right scary.

Umm. Farming is radically different today. The technical aspects of what to buy plant harvest etc, the logistical aspects of hiring marketing transporting and selling, the legal aspects of taxes regulations etc, and yes the employment problems that so many businesses are facing. So if farmers use computers to take over some of the mental drudgery, or allow semi intelligent people to run equipment better, or whatever, that's just a sign of the times...

And honestly GPS is so much more than just a truck navigation system. For instance modern heavy earth works equipment often is GPS capable in amazing detail that allows refined civil grading and such in much shorter time than old school operators doing it by eye and survey stakes.
