    hello, cleveland!

last week during that big snow in arkansas, there was a big hold up going from 440 to 40. we had been sitting there for at least half an hour, and i kept looking at my atlas, and looking out the window, wondering... can i make it onto that ramp for us70 there and get around this backup? well, the guy in front of me decided to try it.

i still think i could have made it from where i was stopped, but unfortunately nobody was going around after this for awhile.

unloading at a customer in Chicago , one of may 2X daily stops one in the morning one in the evening ,they have all of us tankers back into a conatinment pit with well marked stand pipes sticking out the wall , and all the parking spots are marked and numbered , proceedure is scale in at back of plant , scale person gives you slot number back into slot till your Icc bar hits and lock and chock the brakes , then suit up and they come out and you pull a sample out of the tank . easy as pie . well I had 2 pumpkins out there one unloading caustic soda from cincy ( must have been a P&G load otherwise it comes from chicago ) and a waterglass load for hairspray , well I get the ok to hook up my hoses , Now when I unload I sit out of the cab in full suit ( hazmat) the whole time the line is energized , I noticed the pumpkin heads sitting in there cabs no PPe on ( and one was a hazmat driver ) well the lines for the 2 products are criss crossed , but hooked to the right lines . well the waterglass line starts to shake saying its empty , but the driver of the caustic truck gets out with no suit and proceds to pop the ears off the hose without closing the valve thus causing this hot corrosive product to start spraying out a 3" stream out of the back of his trailer and it hits the wall behind him and sprays up in the air showering me and my triler and the trailer next to me , sowhat does the waterglass driver do ?? he gets out of his cab int o the alkali rainstorm with no protection , being I happened to be sitting there I ran up front and broke the hydraulic safety bulb , then ran back and drug the drivers to the safety showers. needless both guys went tothe hospital . I never have sen such stupidity in my life .. No PPE , needless Schnieder had a heck of a clean up bill , I was stuck there for 6 hours trying to get my load unloaded and my trailer rinsed off so I was legal . 12 years later the caustic stain is still on the building , I was thanked by the customer for my fast response to drag them two to the shower and shutting down the flow . my boss chewed me out for doing it , needless I didn't work for that Idiot much longer, now anytime I unload next to other tankers I keep a eye on everything . and always yell at them if no PPE ..

Pulled into the I-80 west bound scales coming into Sacramento one night, they weren't open, got out and ran around the truck, dropped my pants to tinkle, frantically ran back around the front of the truck pants still down, forgot to set the brake.

Kinda like when I was prepping for mission and failed to realize that my soldier had loaded the bobcat on the skid with the engine hanging off the side.

I sat up front and started loading the skid back on the back of the HEMTT only to hear a screech and feel the truck shift. Yep, the skid was hung up sideways. Took the maint. people over an hour to fix, to include getting a Hercules into the small area I was in.

Or watching a Bradley driver in training try to go sideways across the same berm he just climbed. You would be surprised how round a Brad seems when it is log rolling down a hill :biggrin_25523:

wow it's crazy that hazmat drivers would be so careless, one drop of that is considered a spill of some degree, silly Schneider.

Well I have put the trailer on my tandums once or twice. #### pin on the 5th wheel was not totally lock in. On a mty trailer its no ig deal, but 40,000 in the box its a work out to get it back up. Always visually check the pin is engaged.. Just sayin...

Driving a lowboy that had a blown quick release valve.
When I set the breaks it would dump all the air.
    Stopped at a border crossing.
Parking lot was on an incline so I decided to chock the wheels with a block of timber instead of dumping all the air.
Was busy walking to the customs office when I realized I had forgotten my pen in the cab.
Once I had the pen I decided to fill in my documents sitting on the lowboy deck instead of inside the stuffy office.
Just as I was wondering why the trailer was rocking I realized it was climbing over the timber block one axle at a time.
Lucky I had not locked the truck door.
This was a high cab over so I pressed down on the foot break with my hand while almost getting ridden over by the steer.
Stopped no more than a few inches from the rear of another truck.
Suddenly waiting to build up air did not seem such a big deal any more.

Not MY problem, butmy Century had to go on the hook from Lockport down to West Seneca. It hadn't run and had no air. Wrecker man screwed bolts into the chambers to over ride the brakes. Tugged me out from under the trailer and then only hitting the back of the wrecker stopped me. Dent in the bumber.... (been there the whole time dontcha know!)
