I've been managing a one-truck/one trailer, incorporated owner-operator's bookkeeping. Due to a computer error, much of it was lost and will need to be 'reinstalled' anyway. I had used Quicken, but I had to build all of the categories, debits/credits, checking, etc. There must be software that has already been designed with the categories that relate to this industry. Something that is easy to use and easy to combine reporting when sending to cpa. Does anyone have suggestions?
Suggest industry related software?

Denise! My father in law is in the same situation with the cruddy software. I am trying to track down more information about these softwares that keep failing and hope to find a solution. What were using before?

Excel. You can create your own. It works for me. I use quickbooks for my billing and excel for everything else. Easy that way.

there is a feature in Quicken and quickbooks that has you back-up the files.
You should be able to restore them from those files (QDF file extension if memory is right).
Unless you have not been redundantly backing up your data. -
Truck Bytes http://truckbytes.com/index.html
It works for me and it's FREE

i use an excel spread sheet that someone sells for 28 a year. as it automatically has the dates. i buy it every year cuz the dates can lose data being not correct.
i back up the sheet every week. on a flash card. i also have the software download stored on the card.
i use open office.org as the sfotware. instead of buying msft. it's free. also downloaded on the flash card.
if my computer crashes for whatever reason. i simply format and reload windows. reload the software and i'm back in business.
same goes with my computer logs and software. takes me a whole 10 minutes to reload both programs and be up and running. nothing lost or reprogrammed. -

Quickbooks Pro has a trucking module.
SHC Thanks this. -
Might I also recommend Carbonite Backup. It automatically backs up your computer and all software. That way when this happens again you will still have your information.

care to share that....?
Just got done chatting with them and they said nothing is there for trucking.
Is it a third party source that has it?
