I got DR454 drives a month ago and I really like them so far. Was looking for their steers, but looks like they don't sell them in 16 ply

Used to buy only Bridgestone steers. Started running 590s, Now 591s, same tire. Bridgestones old top of the line design. Decupping groove on 591 is a great design. Cuts into the side, yet protected by outer tread. Goodyear had a steer for a few years, with decupping goove cut sideways, good design, except it was vulnerable to damage. 591s have it right. Best design. And affordable.

I am happy with them, I run Firestone drives as well. I think when it comes to name brand tires, it is just a preference. I have friends who run only Bridgestone, Goodyear and Michelin.

They’re available, but may have to be ordered. I run 11R 24.5 and have to order a couple months ahead of time.
I just looked and you may have to go to 11R22.5 to get the 16 ply

Thanks everyone for the input! I have a lot of good suggestions and info handy for when I’m ready to buy in a couple months.

I'll second the 591s. Great steer and not too pricy. I figure that's what will get out of them too right around 175k maybe even closer to 200k. We run a lot of light loads

Not to necro an old thread, but wanted to update everyone. I had 2 Cooper Pro LHS and 8 Cooper Pro LHD put on. They were the only solid brand my local shop had for solid pricing.

I ended up getting 85k out of the steers before one developed a flat spot covering about 1/3 of the inner tread giving the truck a wobble. The other steer I kept for a spare as it was wearing nicely. The drives are doing great at 85k with even wear and good tread left.

Fun fact, I bought the steers in March 2021 for $411 with FET. 10 months later, had same shop check current price, $592. 44% increase. Crazy times!

My bridgestones are doing fine with 100K on them, but when I buy new, they will be the michelins. Best tires made IMO. The bridgestones are missing chunks where they got stones in them and the stones took rubber with them, BAD design.

Wonder what Michelins are priced at nowadays. Worth it I’m sure but if my run of the mill Coopers are $592 per…
