I passed general knowledge, air brakes, combos, tanker, and hazmat just this past week.
Used both free online cdl practice tests previously mentioned.
They helped.
Let me suggest one more thing- as for the testing -
when i took the tests at dot i would skip quite few questions I was nt sure of so that I could keep my correct answer percentage as high as possible until the end.
This way one may be able to pass the tests required percent before attempting to guess answers at the end.
Just my 2 cents for what its worth...
Haz mat was the toughest-took that alone 2 days after the others.
Dont really care about buses and doubles for now...
IM ON MY WAY!!! HA!

Nice. Good advice Kingoftheroad. I always try to skip questions that I'm not sure about when taking multiple choice tests, but it's always been more to save time than anything else. I forgot that a lot of DMVs are doing computerized testing now where you're done when you get the required percentage. Great idea. Thanks for chipping in!

Can you trust http://www.cristcdl.com for accuracy? My FL CDL handbook says inspect cargo within the first 50 miles, so naturally while studying I come across this question and select 50, it tells me it's wrong and that it's 25 on that website. Is that a trick question? The wording 'within the first 50'?
carbonbasedlife Thanks this. -
hrm. Not sure. maybe a difference in the state for the cdl book? I noticed a couple or 3 questions on there that definitely had the wrong answer as well. I kinda gave up on their list of questions after a little while. But the questions on: http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/CDL/Samples.html these tests seem to be solid. Scratch that. It was a different site that had some completely wrong answers (although honestly it looks like it was a programming issue on the part of their webmaster). Which test was the question on?

Studying? What's that?
The permit CDL test is fairly straight forward and common sence! Don't worry you'll do fine!@

Ha. Maybe it's straight-forward to some people. But I looked at some of the questions before I had read the CDL manual and it was greek to me. Maybe I don't have much common sense.
