EXACTLY. The reason brokers keep pulling the crap that they do is because people don't go after them. They feel that it is not worth the money, time or hassle. And to a certain degree it is valid thinking. But then these same people complain when brokers pull stunts like this. If EVERYONE would put on their big-boy pants and took stances based on PRINCIPLE instead of money, the shenanigans would stop. Freight rates would be higher, having to wait for 21 days or more to get paid would change, accessorials would be honored, and a host of other issues would be fixed. Of course, ONE person taking a stance wouldn't make a difference. The MACHINE would just keep churning along. It has to be a COLLECTIVE effort. This is why politicians keep getting away with murder, and why huge conglomerates basically do whatever the hell they want.

No doubt about it but as a one man operation you need to put your time in making money and picking your battles. This would piss me off and I would bug the hell out of them with some emails and phone calls but not worth court process. Maybe a quick letter bluffing from a lawyer to try I guess.

I would spread the word to anyone and never do business with them again for sure.

I hear you, and I understand it is a tough situation. It is like stepping over a dollar to pick up a quarter. Right now I'm going to fight two battles: One against Amazon for $1550 (the remaining balance of a $3300 load I did for their broker, King Heaven), and one against TQL for $40 of detention. LOL. Do you really think I need $40 from TQL? Of course not! I just spent that amount buying breakfast for the guys at the shop/yard where I park my truck. But I'm sick of TQL pulling this crap. And the reason they keep doing it is because no one bothers to fight. Some of you guys might deem it foolish for me to pursue this. And you are CORRECT. But I'm just in the mood for a fight.

    Thanks for your reply.

Exactly what you said. I called them twice on the day this happened. And they threatened me with putting a freight guard on me if I call them one more time. This is the owner of the broker company. My first time hearing of this “freight guard” thing.

For sure I will never do business with them again. I will definitely try to file against there bond first.
