Depends on what you’re running while the truck is off. Also depends on what truck you got. The newer t680s run 3 batteries wires for all truck power and 1 battery strictly for the starter. That way if you run out of charge because you forgot to turn the key off you can still start it up.

No problem, just disconnect the offender. I only run 3 batteries in my truck. Always been plenty, I’ve done it, running only on 2, it will run down to 2 or 3 amps, maybe? Whatever the computer requires. Old Trucks would run without them at all, that was nice.

You should be fine running on 3. Just means less starting capacity and less reserve power when the key is off.

I should have said, they would still run with a bad alternator, even after batteries were dead. New Trucks require power for ecm. Alternator goes bad, you can only run so far, I’ve ran quite a ways during the day, shut down before dark, then up at daylight, till I could fix it.Used to carry one always. It was an annual thing. New ones last so long, I just buy as needed, about every 4 yrs it seems.Keeping an extra, the warranty would be useless. I’m never too far from a parts store. No need to replace your alternator, unless it’s overcharging. When I’ve had a bad battery, ( Pos. and neg.plates get loose inside touching each other, and short out ) I notice the volts running higher than usual, Alternator over compensating, I’m guessing? New batteries, back to normal

on my previous trucks batteries were lasting 3-4 years. On this cascadia they last one or two years. I use NAPA or Exide batteries... I really don't understand batteries quality is gone down or something is wrong with this truck's alternator.

yeah men. I will do that. I always was following to *Buy American* but quality of Delco Remy sucks now. So many bad starters and alternators... I will buy new Denso brushless or Bosch brushed alternator and Trojan batteries.
