Yup, They assign a truck to you in Orientation... and most of them aren't in good condition

I'm actually considering Malone, even after reading all of this. The main reason being that I don't have the credit to go elsewhere to just buy a truck and I want to get away from being a company driver. Sure, I could probably go other places and do good on a lease, but malone actually sells their trucks cheap. A friend of mine started there and his first truck offered was an '06 for 18k, but it had problems that would have taken too long to fix, so he refused the truck and was given an '09 for 35k.

That friend went there with nothing in his pocket to become a L/O and is doing just fine. He spent a few cold nights in the truck when he first started, but has built up his fuel discount money to create an emergency fuel fund. According to him, he gets his discounts in minutes, not hours or days. He doesn't spend his discount that he gets back on fuel. Like I said, he saves it as an emergency fund. He runs mostly in the steel country and averages about 800.00 to 1200.00 per week after expenses and fuel.

He rarely uses the CRST load board for loads anymore. He has built up relationships with a few of the agents and just calls them directly. After only a couple of months, he already knows the lanes he wants to run and sticks with them unless he's on the way home.

Yep that guy on this post had no biz leasing a truck, first off yes I worked there, and what you said in the very first post is just a lie, except for the 12 cent that's true. But only bringing home 4400 a month I think you said..yea right and you ran hard what two loads a month . Listen to everybody who want to lease a truck , please do the following. Read contract, check equipment out, and do the math. Their not required to not take advantage of your stupidity. Every lease has a catch, you just have to find it. Learn how to work the program they offer , follow your instincts. Stop letting other driver who are failing tell you how to make it work. And about the dead heading they will if your making money, have good judgement, and not in the hole. Bascially you didn't have a clue what you were doing.

You'd be surprised. My husband bought a truck. It was a business account, so it didn't go on his credit. He was running a business, but it looked like hauling cattle was going to end. Landstar didn't reply, Malone did. We ran with Malone in our truck, for a year and a half. We grossed $145,000 and earned every dime. We spent many a cold night in the truck. We even spent a blizzard in the truck.

The next year was a fight. That load board was a joke. Two years later, he's with Landstar.

We still have friends with CRST-Malone. Why they stay, beats me.

We get calls all the time, for loads. Our response, "Sorry, we have a dedicated route." CRST-Malone sends mail and calls, as well.

Well with the new system( elogs, and the cut rates).. Im not sure how the much money is being made. Heres some food for thought. Ok heres the numbers. .... at .12 cents a mile at 2500 miles a week for 52 weeks your giving crst malone 15,600 dollars a year .. times 3 years will be 46,800 you will never get back..what a deal huh??? Lol. Time for more bad news. Ok since you couldn't are wouldn't save money your self , heres the kicker 46,800+35000 equals 81,800.. the truck you just brought ohhh your friend forgot to mention that balloon payment to huh.which would put you close to 100,000 dollars. Thats some deal for a 09 Cascadia with 600,000+ miles on it. That was drive by students most of the time, who thought
shifting gears was a trendy new dance. So buy this time you have 990,000+ miles on truck. Guess what you have to rebuild the engine, but whats this you say ... you still have bad or no credit, have been able to save any money..!!!!! But lucky for you the company you gave you the great deal on your first truck is willing to repeat the offer. What options do you have you accept. So again you become a glorified company driver. . Yoyou take all the taxes( fuel, hwy use, fed, state, etc) so that 800-1200 your friend makes is in no way accurate. .lol its gross. You say you cant bet a company driver? News flash you will be , just at less pay lol... you wont own the truck till final payment rendered. .. which means you cant do any add on , modification without the company approval. You wanna quit, you will have to give big daddy crst malone his truck back. Remember you couldnt afford to finance one in the beginning. Plus you will owe 2290, two month of tags lol.. so think carefully. So times its best to crawl before you walk. . Lease purchase comes with a hefty price tag. Oh by the way wanna sue???? Their not worried your the same guy that couldnt afford to buy a truck,so paying 50,000+ for a lawyer not happing.by chance you do , their prepared to draw the process out with their 1,00

This is in no way just crst malone, its lease purchase period..think crst malone bad, check celadon out lol , lets not forget cr England lol. Look at these companies to name a few. Theres also quality leasing(owned by celadon), rwi transportation which leases from quality leasing. The list gowes on and on. Quality will lease you a truck with a million miles lmao...

IMHO, only very experienced drivers with a large savings should attempt to own or lease a truck. Too many pitfalls. At least with a company truck you can finish your load and return the truck, then walk away.
