I leased for six months with Malone as a TRIAL run on being a business owner. Even tho i wasnt very good at tjat...i mustve done something right because i made almost 67000 in SIX months! My truck developed a chronic computer problem so i turned my truck in...its a walkaway lease and they were VERY nice to me about it. They knew i was just testing the waters. This is a good deal if you are a hard worker and a good business person. I COULD have traded my truck in and renegotiated my lease and kept running but i decided to set it aside and think it over. Maybe some day i will do it again..and be even MORE su cessful because of all i learned the first go around.

Wow!!I thought my voices got all crazy in my head!! You got a good look at trucking! -
Baby
Kudos to you for trying. Most people would sit on their #ss and not follow through on a dream (if this was a dream for you). Hopefully you didn't lose too much money starting out. If you were upfront with Malone from the start and Malone understood that you were wanting to try it out to see if this gig was for you then no one got hurt. You got to experience, albeit only 6 months, how life is like being an OO. Most people will say that 6 months is not enough time to fully understand and know this industry. Perhaps they're right, but 6 months is more than 0 months. You can take this experience and use it for whatever endeavor you opt for in the future.
Again, if you didn't lose any start up money then you're the wiser. Pick up your pants, dust off your jacket, and move on.

To each their own. I don't presume to know you or your experience in trucking. It didn't work out for you. It put a bitter taste in your mouth. That would be true for most people. Trucking isn't for everybody. It's a harsh industry that would spit out the average person and take a bite out of the next.
Having said that, trucking is not your average business. Ask any long time trucker why they've remained in trucking and they will tell you it's because its in their blood. Is it the most profitable? No. Is it the easiest? No. Is it the most glamorous? No. Is it the safest? No. But their is a certain draw that keeps them in it. As long as they are content and happy, that is all that matters. Who has the right to judge that?
You will argue that some have no choice. For some, that can be true. But they need to realize that there are a lot of people out there who are worse off than you. -
only advise I have here is if your office starts having bad tern over start looking for new routs or a new company I am learning this the hard way im outa IA office and well I should've found a new job 2 yrs ago before I lost my ##### with Malone
good luck I have known ppl to make money I use to but not so much any more
and well now there shoving a QUALCOMM on me for a clean DOT inspection at a scale cuss I have been DOT ed to many times I gess but there all clean and no points on my CSA and been here 5 yrs + -
Huh? They put a qualcomm on you because you have too many clean inspections? There's gotta be more to the story. Clean inspections = lower CSA scores for Malone. And my DM is in Eldridge too. She empties me out and puts fuel on me if I ask for it, period. She could just as easily be in Alaska. It doesn't matter what office you're assigned to. Actually freight is very good right now and rates are going up in the lanes I run. I sent home 4980.00 in the last 2 weeks working 5 day weeks averaging 11 hours a day. If your strategy isn't working get in a different lane. Don't blame the office.
