We've seen guys get fired. They send too much money home and don't have fuel. They've called us. I have to fund our own truck, I don't lend on other trucks. Those guys get money. If they get broke on fuel, that's an issue. I will never give money for fuel, ever.

Malone's safety rating keeps getting worse. Our Landstar loads keep getting better. We haven't even been here a year. We'll do better.

The fuel program is another thing that kept me going there... Most places just give you a fuel card that you can use whenever you need to, money is on there. They just take back what you spent, on your settlement. CRST Malone does not give you money till your on a load, and only 40%

You only get 40% of a load, before you get loaded. What happens if they cancel the load? You have to pay the loan back, right? We had that happen on an oversize. I think we owed $2400. Our next load paid $700. We didn't have a paycheck for a while. We had to pay our bills from savings. Sometimes, we pay for fuel out of our checking account.

We had to pay $9,000 for repairs, at Christmas. We pay for everything, as O/O's. Gee Whiz, all that with our truck and trailer payment. How did we ever pay for fuel? Some guy couldn't pay for fuel 4 times! Why did he have to pay for fuel 4 times? We've never done that.

We watched a friend swear he couldn't pay for fuel 2 times. He got fired. He asked us for money. Tried to tell him how this business works. We stash money for our truck. We know we need money. We can't afford to fund people who can't fund fuel.

I won't go into business having to get advances. Taking a loan, that's one thing but I won't even do that. I must save and save and save but, that's the only way I will go in to business. I live a cash only life now and it has worked out pretty good so far. If people got to CRST Malone with no money in the bank to cover fuel, at the least, they probably won't make it on the lease purchase program.

you shouldn't have to buy your own fuel though.

i've doen it though. when the fuel cards weren't working for whatever reason and i don't want to sit around till they do work. but you shouldn't have to buy your own fuel. specially when it can run up to $1000 and be gone the next day.

if you can't have a card to buy fuel for the week. the company isn't worth working for.

course, if you have the money for whateve operation your running. and don't like the idea of dot know when you fuel. then buying it yourself would be a advantage.

FYI... if you can't manage money don't become a business owner. As a business owner of a trucking company YOU are responsible for keeping fuel in your tanks. With possible deadhead on both ends this will take some planning. If you can't plan don't become a business owner.

Being a business owner in the trucking industry isn't for those with a " you owe me" mentality, or for those who like to blame others & whine.

    TRUCKING AIN'T FOR SISSIES!

it's not about planning. it's about keeping the truck rolling. and, well, you can't roll with no fuel.

being a true o/o pulling your own loads is one thing. but when your contracted out. and you have a fuel card. you shouldn't have to worry about buying fuel.

Yeah, I had to survive with my own money until I got my settlements.... At the moment I'm not to keen of this place, I'm trying to make it but I honestly think this not going to work out. I'm not going to bash the company, even tho I could but I just don't think it's a fit for me.

I look at this load board and most of the stuff in my region is a joke. The Lumber going north pay good but nothing coming back down. Honestly speaking, I think their short stuff in steel regions (Alabama and Indiana) looks like it' pays good tho, and Stuff along I-65 from Gary down to Birmingham. They best I've done so far is an 2.20 mile from Columbia City, IN back to Petersburg, VA... After that it's all 1.35 to 1.80
