Gotcha. Yeah that would make a difference. Most of the prices for the big stuff on CD are pathetic, think I saw 2 busses on there the other day paying .60/mi each  stuff like that was the reason I ended up choosing a 7 car as the next step vs the SC 5 car. Plus the ability to haul 4 full size pickups.

I don't know who is hauling for that cheap but they need to go haul dry van or better yet go out of business

The big stuff has gone down hill for about the last 8 years, at least as far as CD is concerned, I also have a lot my people knocking on my customers door with their 3 car wedges that never happened before, that is my reason for getting lighter and single axle trying to curb my costs, unfortunately, it is a spiral to the bottom.

I used to always be able to get about 8,500 for a coast to coast trip, sometimes more, now you are looking at 6,000, that is another reason for the modified 4 car, I can't give up my ability to haul my customers big stuff, but at the same time, 3 cars/pickups on a haul out of Cali. to the midwest are paying half what they used to, so by adding that extra space I "hope" to be able to create another 25% income on my way back.

IF it all works out, that and my lowered operating costs should keep me above the fray, but I still think you work twice as hard for half as much any more, maybe memories just grow fonder with time?

    Hey Dorsey, how ya been?

Yeah, I also like the Co-Part jobs that tell you, "yeah it runs perfect" when you get there the roof is crushed so hard you can't open the door, and surprise it DOES run, just don't pay any attention to the missing rear axle or front left wheel ### that is gone!

Then when you stop to fuel you see the pieces of steel embedded into you tires.

No, we don't haul Co-part any more either!

    truckon Thanks this.

I'm doing better now that things have picked back up.

Some of my best stories are from copart cars. 24 hours to unload, canceled checks because I didn't have "the proper equipment" to unload.

    KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

You didn't know you're supposed to carry a forklift around with you at all times to unload their .50/mi cars?

KANSAS TRANSIT, Dorsey and Mr&MrsPete Thank this.

LOL, yeah there are only 6 of them, I had them custom built for us by Chaparral Trailers in 2005 when they were still in Moundridge Kansas. Unfortunately after they sold out I couldn't get any more.
