Been using them for nearly 18 years now, 90% of trailers here are ss, a super single is just that , a single! Recaps are prone to shredding themselves , ss recaps seem more prone to it, def not for steering axle ! When a ss does let go it can do alot of damage , I've seen them rip off mudguards, lights and crash barriers, imagine what it could do on a tractor? I know recaps are cheaper but having been in business for 12 years I personally think they are a false economy! Almost all blowouts I've had on my trucks were recaps, I can't remember any from ordinary supersingles! Not saying an ordinary tyre never blew on me but I just can't think of one, I remember a few recaps alright!
Supersingles are great tyres though, they can carry Alot of weight and save on fuel,

When i was buying my truck in 2009,on the drivetires was ss recaps, after the winter in hot weather i was loosing small pieces on 3 tires
,after 60k,i have to buy 4 new michelin xdn 2,for maybe 2 months 1michelin blows out, without damage on truck or rims, when i stop my truck was less then 1inch space between rims and asphalt,i was buying a bridgestone ss fir $815, -
The next time when i buy new ss ,i buy only the new goodyear SS 394 duraseal modell, with this tire you can have nails in the tire and nothing happens, this tire have a specialgel inside the tire when a nail comes inside the tire the gel covered the hole

Ya but rolling resistance sucks

Has anybody who is running Super Single tyres looked into using a advanced tyrepressure monitoring device?
I have it and the results are much better then expected.(i couldn't imagen not having it anymore) -
It would be foolish to have them on a trailer without a PSI(or other) system. On the tractor use a TMS system that shows the tire psi on the display.

I know of a national waste/haul company out of WI with a local location here in GA that refuses to run anything but the Goodyear G289 WHA with DuraSeal technology (315/80R22.5) on his fleet.
