Just the cost alone is enough to keep me away. If you blow a tire, get a nail to close to the side wall etc, you basically going to pay for roadservice because you can't limp the truck to a shop AND nearly the cost of two tires. Then there is the rim issue. I have heard of several drivers that had to replace rims because they were ruined when a tire blew. I'm sticking with traditional tires - the few hundred pounds in weight savings are no where near worth the potential cost down the road.

I've had 3 blow out and never had to replace a rim...

How many times did you have to call road service to come do the repairs, and how long did you wait for the service truck?
I'll stick to 18. -
ill stick to my 22

Know this is an old thread but I just read an article in the latest issue of Landline magazine that confirms what I read somewhere else several years ago. You cannot just convert a truck that was spec'd with duals to SS by just swapping wheels. The axle offsets are different. You'll end up with SS wheels tucked in about 2 inches narrower than what the duals were. This causes premature bearing failure and also issues with irregular tire wear.

I was interested so I looked it up there is no difference in the hubs some are better than others, there are different rims, inset and off set and straight set that does effect bearing life,
