Super Singles

We call 385/60 22.5 and 425 ' s super singles when used on our trailers in place of duels.Due to legislation we can not get max weight if we use any single on a drive.

 

Are you sure on the weight issue? I only ask because I know when I order over weight permits the axle weights are limited by tire width. You still can't haul more weight if you were to use the 445/50 22.5 instead of the narrow 385's? Different rim width of course but is the tire width that's limiting you or is it simply the number of tires?

 

Im running trucks in southern and central Africa , 12 countries in total.We are limited to 17637lbs on a axle with 2 wheels regardless of width of tires.So yes it is the number of tires that limit us not the tire capacity.With duels we are allowed 19842lbs per axle.There is a limit placed on a 3 axle group of 52911lbs so you can use 385/60 22.5 as singles in the trailer and still get max load.When doing overweight under permit we don't use these trailers.
