Of course he wants the referral fee! Posting pays good.

I wish. Never gotten a referral bonus. Wouldn't turn one down though.

Had an easy week. Dedicated out and back load to Houston. Left Monday around 6 AM got home Friday around 3 PM. Off until Monday.
They have me on a paint load to Holland Mi delivering early Wed morning to start next week. -
Hey Rob,
I'm on a layover out in California where I'm delivering Monday to Teknor Apex in the City of Industry. Then I get the tank cleaned at the LA TW and drop it at Ashland/LA, wait a day, pick it up and take it to their Jacksonville, AR facility.
I believe you've done this run before; any tips? Like, is the Ontario TA the closest place to overnight waiting for them to load?
I use Streets & Trips and believe it's given me reasonable routes to these places, but if there's anything special about getting into these plants please share.
Hope you're having a great weekend.
Phil -
I have never been to Teknor Apex. My loads have always been to waste water treatment plants. I generally stop in either Coachella Ca or Barstow the night before depending on if i am running I-10 or I-40. The casino in Coachella has good secure parking and you can idle the truck since its policed by the indian tribe that runs it.
The LA tank wash is a small one in a not so great part of town. They have always taken 3-4 hours to wash me out but I have always had snot on. Its only a few miles from the Ashland plant where you will drop your trailer. You can park at la tankwash overnight. Its open 24 hours. I have done that before, just make sure you have plenty of food.
I have also gotten a hotel room at the Ramada Inn on E Slauson Ave and Gage Ave right at I-5. They have truck parking around back, a Dennys in the parking lot and its 5 minutes from Ashland. They do not have an account set up with Superior Carriers so you would need to pay for it and be reimbursed so run that by your TM.
You will probably pull resin out of Ashland so make sure your pump is clean and that you have enough hoses or can drop the trailer and get it done with a standard set.
Hope this helps -
Thanks for the hotel info Rob. I stayed at a Quality inn near the consignee and the truck parking here is not ideal.
I'll have to check out my loaner truck's pump when I'm at the TW. I'm pulling a load of Aropol out of Ashland, which google confirms is a resin.
My Prostar, with only 100K on it, broke a rocker arm stud which the oil pump proceeded to chew up and distribute throughout the engine. So she's at the Houston International dealer waiting on a new engine. -
How did that breakdown play out. Did it leave you on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck or did it blow up when you stopped?
-
If anyone ever has to load in Kenedy
Must be talking about Ashland........good lil run.... -
I was on my way back from California to Pasadena and lost a cylinder. I spoke with my terminal in Atlanta and we figured it was probably just a bad fuel injector so I proceeded. But about a hundred miles out the engine lost a lot of power so I pulled into a truck stop and called breakdown for a tow. After an hour they told me no one would come out that Friday evening to pull me in! So, I limped her on in with the flashers on the whole way. She got down to about 30 mph on the uphills, and I was empty.
It's still under warranty thankfully, but they do take their time at those International repair shops.
