Once a day is probably excessive. You get it cleaned as soon after you use it as you can. I like to turn mine on once a month and spray some Pam cooking oil into the intake pipe. It won't pump product unless you hook hoses up and open the valves. If its been below freezing for a while you need to take a pipe wrench and turn the PTO shaft to make sure it is broken loose before turning it on. If you use Pam and let it rattle around periodically it stays in pretty good shape.

O ok...you only pump off flammables if they dont use nitrogen? Or real thick products right?

Flammables more than anything since you can't use compressor air on them. Most of the time it depends on the customer. They know what is faster and will ask for that. If there lines are clogged up or have a lot of 90 degree turns they will want you to pump. Some plants run several hundred feet of pipe to get to the storage tank which might be on the 4th floor.

For me pump loads were rare. I did usually no more than 5 or 6 per year.

Which one is quicker? To pump off or air off...and when the tanks dented in that's because the tank wasn't vented properly right

The pump can move product faster generally but it takes more time to set up and break down. You also generally will have more product left in the hoses than with an air off.

The dents you see on a tank driving down the road are in the skin. The actual tank is smaller, wrapped in insulation and covered by thin sheet metal. Always vent a tank when pumping off. They are meant to hold pressure not a vacuum. The pump on your tractor is strong enough to suck one in and make it look like a banana.

How do y'all stop product from getting on you when you unhook everything...and venting the tank is cracking the dome lid? And how does a pump work?does it have gears or something?
