Is it a mistake to tell a potential employer like superior or carry that i plan on living out of the truck?
-
are you already driving? I wouldn't do that...these trucks are not that big to actually 'live in'! I can somewhat see a Pete, but not a Mack or international. WAY TOO SMALL! Best advice is decide what you want to do. If you want to live in a truck and have no experience, I'd say go to general freight. They'd LOVE YOU.Orlandodriver Thanks this.

The company will figure it out pretty quick. When you go for several months and don't ask for time off or home time it will be obvious that you're living in the truck.
Finding out their policy about living in the truck might save you from problems later on.yankatank Thanks this. -
I would still want time off.
-
well, everyone will want time off, however, trust me, these trucks are NOT designed to actually be 'lived in'. We have small sleepers. I don't know how some guys can be in them over 2 weeks? Only way I CAN tolerate it over 2 weeks is if I run across country and back. I'm bound for a restart and I get a hotel room...but after that, I need an actual place to call 'home' and a truck isn't one of those, to me.
-
Yes i understand. That makes sense, but when i say live in i don't mean it in that way. Not looking for a place to have fun or live, just sleep then wake up and make money. Still want home time or off time just like any other driver.
But thanks, that is something for me to consider.
Also, that helps answer my question because now i know not to mention it. I will just take my home time like a regular driver. -
just saying, sounds like you have no experience driving. Once you become a driver you live in the truck and visit home. Every driver knows this.Lilj Thanks this.

I have a really thick beard. Will this be a problem when I'm interviewing at superior carriers?
-
Depends on the person and where they are in life.
I used to live out of a 9700 International and never got a hotel and never cared about going home. Happy as a pig in slop. Nowadays, I'd only go back to OTR in the most extreme circumstances, and I'd hate it even if I got a 5-star hotel every night.
What some folks hate, other folks think is a dream come true.Orlandodriver, Just passing by and yankatank Thank this.
