I'm not badmouthing all those who've posted in this thread, just the one who can't handle stories about what Big truck truckin' was back in the day compared to how the industry is now-a-daze.
It's boring; nobody wants to hear, or read, that
over-and-ovar-and-over again.
Back-in-the-day it took aptitude, attitude, knowledge and ability to impress those in charge of hiring drivers.
Imagine this, ---- Some Big truck truckin' companies specializing in training new drivers want the students to move on to other companies so as to make room for more trainees. It's how they make money, --- training wannaBees and cheap trainee/rookie labor. There's one such company that depends on a 225% yearly turnover rate to turn a healthy profit. If drivers were satisfied there they'd remain there, --- cloggin' up a seat where a more profitable trainee could be sittin' instead of a driver rising in the pay scale costin' the company more money to move the freight.
Many such companies have investors to please. They expect a return on their investment. If bullwhips were legal drivers would have welts on their buttox.
When things don't seem to make any sense, follow the Money Trail.
Is that an assumption on your part? Or were you a medical student who found it boring when they expressed their opinion(s) about the past?
So is having a closed mind, especially when it's a one-track mind.
Know the difference betwixt a trucker tale and a fairytale?
Well, .......................
A fairytale starts out, "Once upon a time", ......
And a trucker tale starts out, "Y'all ain't gonna believe this sheep dip", ...........
Believe me when I say I know what you mean. And I doubt I'm the only one.
When it comes to pete and repeat, over and over, you're just as
as those stories of yesteryears gone by that bore you. Please
SaY WhaT?!
You had a windshield to wipe?
All I got was goggles.

A truck isn't even broke in till 500 k. As far as Dana, did you expect Improv, strippers and pillow chocolates ? Happy to hear about a trainer with a serious outlook

This so reminds me of the posts in the Lost Touch thread, the newbies that want all the gravy and goodies and then, maybe then, they'll think about giving 100%. Oh, I forgot the part about needing the raise before doing the best job possible, too.
The way things are going, pretty soon it's going to be "South to Alaska!"
Mr HD? You're like a million others before you, who weren't smart or tough enough to realize that dealing with it for a couple years would let have your pick of gravy jobs in trucking. It's no different that any other career, for that matter. I think many, like you, are just suffering the shock of realizing they don't hand out participation trophies in real life.123456, spindrift and WesternEmpire Thank this. -
And you can talk till your blue in the face. If a kid hasn't been taught the value of hard work, this is the attitude you'll find...over and over again.
Hammer166 Thanks this. -
To play Devil's advocate for a bit, I know how it feels to be chomping at the bit to prove yourself while feeling like you're not getting the chance. Been there many times.TruckDuo Thanks this.

No doubt. Been there too. But when you're faced with that situation, you persevere, suck it up, move on and apply what you've learned to your next experience. Forums have become the easiest of easy outlets to whine about life. I suspect it's the modern equivalency of drugs and therapy. I think my wife and I have done a fairly decent job of raising five kids; all contributing members of society. I dare say I spent 50% of my parenting time doing my best to undo the influences of a slacker nation.
