One more spin on the free market merry-go-round!
This is just another symptom of the decline and fall of the low and middle class in America! Nafta has stolen jobs from Americans, has set us against each other as we fight over the low-paid jobs that are left, and has split the unity of the greatest Union in the world, the UNITED STATES of AMERICA! If they can keep us fighting amongst ourselves, we will be too distracted to stand up against the greedy CEO's and Government representatives as they knock us down the the level of the 3rd world countries everywhere. I am all for bringing the rest of the world UP TO our quality of life... But the free trade agreements are all about dropping US DOWN to the bottom while the rich at the top keep laughing from the piles of money under their GOVERNMENT PROTECTED beds! I am currently on strike against American Axle because they are using NAFTA to threaten to take our jobs out of the country. I cannot afford this, but I feel that not only my union brothers and sisters, but the rest of the people that count on our pay to buy their goods cannot afford the alternative.. The alternative is allowing the rich to get us involved in a race to the bottom that they will ulitmately yank our jobs out from under us ANYWAY... If we conceed, then the compitition will be forced to conceed just a little lower to compete. That will in turn drive US to conceed and send us into a spiral that only the rich can win.. We offered some concessions (about 20% of our pay) to AAM, but they laughed at us and came back with 60%.... That means for every 10 dollars I USED to make, I would be earning 4$... While everything else is going UP, I am being asked to lower my wages. I TRULY understand what you drivers are going thru..... Not a lowering of wages, but an increase in the cost of doing your job... It is effectivly the same thing. To those that say they cannot afford to strike, ask yourselves this: in 3 months, when summer is on and MORE deliveries are going on, can you afford to drive for next to nothing AND pay the wear and tear on your rigs that comes with driving more miles... We at the AAM striking UAW union are behind you 100%, even those that have been crossing our picket lines.... We might not like your decisions to do that, but we DO understand your desire to fill your families bellies and patch the roof over their heads before the bank comes to foreclose. My prayers (as well as many of my co-strikers) are with you!

DIE ON YOUR FEET OR LIVE ON YOUR KNEES!!!!
