I have the tnd tablet and of the cobra (had for 6 hrs) garmin (couple weeks ) I like this best.

One major gripe, when I put in an address, compare routes based on my preferences it gives one good route and one completely ridiculous route (sometimes, mostly with short routes) I have set for fastest route usually and on my normal route I always cut the time down with my own route using all state highways. I live in Northwest iowa and there are virtually no restricted roads but It won't route me on a county road unless absolutely necessary.

Wish you could choose a practical route rather than just fastest or shortest.
Maybe I haven't figured it out yet but wish I could easily edit the route.

Or better yet give me more choices of a practical route.

I just put in a destination 22 miles away with first option or 50 miles with other option. Really?!?

Wish It Was More Like GOOGLE maps. I still end up using that old stand by to find addresses on gravel roads or county roads.
    Just my 2 cents

Ya that has been my biggest disappointment with the Rand product, the routing. The only GPS system that I know of that uses PRACTICAL routing is Co-Pilot Truck. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles and you buy the software and put it on your own tablet or smart phone so could get costly if you go with a good quality rugged tablet but it's more like Google whereby u can drag the route on the screen to suit ur preferences.
So basically u get what u pay for and at this point in time I think the RM products are overpriced for what u get, too many bells and whistles, that few people use and below par routing.
    That's my 2 cents worth.

Not sure what you mean by "version".
The unit is about a year old.
Home wifi was used for the update.

Do you have Preferences/Route/Freeways - allow or prefer?

I know the compare are totally different. I think on short routes it is more different than on longer routes.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Any word of map updates for TND Tablet. You stated that you would check several times, but we are yet to hear anything else.
