Sounds like a file. Call Customer support and have them remote into your 710 to see if it is a file. Also have them send you the SD Card for the firmware. If you cannot get ahold of them let me know.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Rand found the issue (Flying J). Error in the maps. We have submitted a bug to NavTeq.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Called them already and because it is the 710 model they won't do a remote. They said if it was a 700 they could but aren't allowed for the 710.

OK Mark, this is not aimed at you. But seriously, Im now working on my second 710 after having the same exact issue with two previous 700's. Why in the world do these things keep going dead after around 6 months? Same exact issues.........

Car chargers lose their connectivity slowly over the months. Then the screen starts to flicker and boom! The thing is dead. Will charge up at home or in vehicle with new charging cord. Light will glow green after charge but unit will not power back up. I tried everything. Again, this is my third one.

Lost receipt on first one. Out of warranty on the second one. Now my third one is fried. I CAN'T send back to Rand and wait for repairs. This is beyond ridiculous!!!!!!!!

There has to be a solution to this problem. There has to be.:biggrin_25510:

Is there a trick to the reset button on side? How long should I push it in? Are their any other reboot methods I can do at home?

I am sorry to hear about your issues.

Are you using the DC cord for the 710- output should be 2amp. If anything less the TND will not get a full charge while you are running the TND and over time it will power off.

If you are using the correct DC cord, do you have it in the socket firmly. Sometimes you have to jam something non-conductive in those sockets as they are not as deep as the DC connector and bouncing around loosen's them up just a tad so you have an air-gap.

For the current 710, leave it off for at least 12 hours with no power (AC/DC) attached. Then charge on AC for 3 hours, hit the reset and see if it restores. If it does, then E-Mail me your name, address (no PO box),phone and serial number off the back. Put in subject line - 710 - with your user id from here.

If it does not recover you will have to contact Rand Support and they will issue you an RMA, if a 710, receipt not required.

Reset button is just a micro-switch. Press it in and release.

    Thanks,
    Mark

sorry, I noticed today I had tollways off; I must ve been trying different settings for the route and forgot about it- I certainly don t mean to malign what has been an otherwise indespensable product that has certainly provided more value than its price, but it seems that I ve had issues since the big update that changed the roads from red to river blue- until then it never froze on me, was quick calculating and got me where I needed to be- but since it missed a few expressways that were reconfigured and an street or two that were on anothers garmin I was hoping the updates would have those. the zip code search has been a big help. but its the little things that I have experienced that worry me because I am concerned about other things that I haven t or won t notice. the devil that I don t know. you know ?
