What size fuse is it blowing? Do you have anything else running on the 12vdc system, are you plugging in directly or using a hub.If you plug something else in, like a fridge or cell phone chargers does it blow the fuze, I'm assuming your talking about the truck's main accessory fuse.

Mine started doing something (or stopped doing it) I have it set to warn me about speed when it hits five over the limit. Well it stopped warning me. This is when the unit is picking up the "Truck" speed limit. I tried it this morning in "Car" and it warned me.

If the car speed limit is higher than the truck speed limit you will NOT get an audible speed warning, only the ball will turn red as the audible warning only works for car speed limits.

That doesn't make sense. The warning is set to five over the limit, not a specific value. Edit: also it worked when set to truck mode before. It would warn me at 61.

If you leave it set to car if no truck setting it should work as some roads don't have seperate truck speed limits but yes it doesn't make sense as in California where the truck speed limit is 55 everywhere and car is up to 70mph the unit will not give me an audible warning if I go over 55mph, would have to go over 70mph to get the audible warning but the ball will turn red if I go over 55

I had a hub plugged in with the xm radio and cell phone charger, I unplugged it and just plugged straight in. Everything else works fine if I unplug the gps. Its defiantly the gps plug that is causing it. Blows the 20 amp fuse, I tried 25 and 30 and just blows it right away. If I plug the hub in or individual items the fuse is fine, except when I plug the gps in.

I used the cell phone charger that has the same plug as the gps and the gps works/charges just fine :biggrin_25519: - so its down to the rand mcnally gps car plug. :biggrin_25511::biggrin_2552:

Sounds like the plug is shorting out, prob best to get a new one from Rand or could fix it yourself if you can see where the pos centre pole is touching the ground where the fuse is located. Those 12vdc plugs are cheaply made, had to replace 3 for my cell phone already.

Well, I opened it and was hoping it was as simple as a cell phone one... It actually has a circuit board with a bunch of little transistors... not sure why it has all that but it a bit more then a regular car plug. Guess I'll use the phone cable for now and order another one from Rand. I'm just glad the phone cable actually works with it.

I might be wrong but I could swear it worked before. So what is your suggestion? I need it to give an audible so I don't have to be constantly looking at it.

    Looking at my 720 Sam...
    1. Goto the main page and click on truck tools
    2.click warnings
    3. First selection is warning/alert prompts- click that and make sure audio or audio/visual is checked.
    4. Click back to truck tools and click on warnings again
    - the second option down is speed limit display. Mine is set at show car if no truck
    - the next one is speed limit alert. Clicking on this option will allow you to set how many miles over to activate the alert. Mine is set at 5mph

I am having no issues with things set up like I just listed.
