On the 720, is it possible to pick a speed that you typically run, so the ETA will be more accurate? We typically run at 55, and the longer the trip, the more the ETA is going to be off. In comparing it to a Garmin, the ETA from PA to CA (run we're currently on) differs by an hour, and that's with me setting the 720 to add more time. The garmin is usually within a few minutes since it allows for a highway speed to be entered. Or does the 720 eventually figure out your average speed and adjust the ETA later on?

It works, but it will "time out" on you and you have to unplug it from the power source and plug it back in to "wake" it up.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Rest Area's, weight stations, and Wal-Marts should show till about the 82 mile scale.

I will have to find out about the maps.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    I added the memo db

    Address book
    Navi/user/addressbook/addrbook.db

    History
    Navi/user/trip.db

    settings
    Navi/user/user.ini

    IFTA or daily mileage
    RM/user/truck.db

    Avoid segments
    RM/user/avoidedsegments.db

    Memo (7" only)
    RM/user/memo.db

You can copy them in any order.

Updates can be done via the Dock for all three.

LTM are for single units only that the maps were bought for. In other words, you have a TND and you bought the LTM's for it. You install the SD card on that TND. Once the SD Card is installed it stays with the TND.

If you bought a TND and it comes with LTM's when you registered you provided a serial number. When you Dock it and download the new maps it verifies the serial number and will only load to that TND.

    Thanks,
    Mark

At this time no, but it is being thought about to give the driver more control over their speeds. You would want to "increase" the ETA, but since you run 55mph this may not be enough. Once you do start to drive it does take into account your current speed versus time/distance and adjusts accordingly.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I connected my 710 and started the dock. I didn't get any info about a new dock that I keep hearing people talking about. Also I had received an email that said a map update was available but I did not see anything happen that looked like I received a map update. here is what the email said:

    Dear Lifetime Maps customer,

We are pleased to announce that a new map update is now available for your Rand McNally GPS device. Please connect your device to the Rand McNally Dock on your home computer to download the update.
Don't have the Dock software? Click here to download for your PC or Mac.
Thank you for your loyalty as a Rand McNally customer.
    Sincerely,
    The Rand McNally GPS Team

I am not even sure that the 710 was updated. When I first started the dock I did get the button that said updates available and it now is greyed out and says your device is up to date.

Does that mean that I got the new dock and updated maps?

This is what shows at the top of the Dock screen:
    Software version 11.95.2258.1629
    Dock version 1.04505.29452
    Serial Number 710-015831
This is on the back of the unit 710-015831-el-11w12 v1.1.1

    Thank you for your help.

I don't use windows. Can I update the 720 with Linux?

First of all, THANK YOU for being here to help us. If Rand decides to make the change being thought about above, I hope they add in the ability to set the "Audible" speed warning too. In other words, the ability is there to set how much over the limit it warns you at. Now I'd like the ability to set the limit. I get the symbol turning red but no sound. Btw this is in CA. I think the unit is using the "Car" speed limits. I'm not positive. I know I get both audible & visual when the speed limit is 55 for everyone. Thanks again Mark.

    Mark,

Please tell me the procedure to obtain a repair order for my 700.

It is not covered under warranty and I need it repaired.

    Thanks!
