Bigron,
Before you can state that information, you need to realize that laws very by state.
Do a little research on Texas law !!!!!!!!!!
It is way different from Maryland. When he gets a CDL, then the laws with be equal.

Most "reputable" trucking companies won't hire someone who has a suspension or revocation, ever. -
DJ,
Have you confirmed with Stevens-about that suspension ????? -
STOP!!
-All things entered into an MVR stays there! Mine shows tickets back to 1972! There is no "nothing past such and such a year!" or "they ONLY go 10 years!" You can pull, or a company can pull information in 3-7-10 or lifetime from most states MVR sites. It's all what they want or can get. Ask the MP's at the gates to any military base you try to deliver to! That answer will surprise you! They pull up life time everything! Even stuff you forgot about and guess what? Companies can do the same!
-The suspension doesn't matter. It was suspened and thats all that they look at. Yes, a detailed reason about the suspension might help but insurance companies do not wear rose colored glasses. Their world is a sharp black and white one!
-The job history COULD be a problem but if you have or can show the last 10 years previous (FMCSA Regulations) you should be ok! I have to ask what are you going to do when you do settle down and you get an audit notice for the past few years of your life? You might want to keep inking on the side so you can save the back taxes you're going to get slammed with! I'm being dead serious and not being an arse as I have been known to be! You NEED to consider how you'll handle this when it happends NOT IF it happens! Unless you can claim Native American status!
- Get the suspension taken care of! Then keep inking to stay alive and when you can get with a company that will take you on go for it!
-TIP:: If you can't stand the "sheep" may I make a suggestion?
NYC!
Remember they had a ban on tattooing for a LONG time! Go to the Willianmburg section (the NEW Lower East Side) and my most favorite place to layover except for my baby sisters house in Woodstock, Ga.This is where the young artisans are now heading and you'll find a few really nice shops there and a lot of these kids are bringing their own work in and getting inked with some beautiful art! And most of them have a freaking wait time on their schedule books! That should tide you over until you can "hit the road." I've seen a lot of "original" work on bodies and not the usual chinese symbols, hummingbird, barbed wire and butterfly crap you see everywhere else.
- You said Stevens is ok with your data, then keep at them. The only thing I can see that's not going to hurt you is that you aren't working, so if you go through the school and then they can you because of your history you aren't out of a job like has happened to a just a "few" of our members! A bill for training maybe but WTH you're getting started!
I have to warn a lot of you. This, "they can only do such and such" is something you heard around the dinner counter at the truck stop or on the CB. Your past driving, criminal and work history can be found and it's not hard to find! This isn't your credit history where "bad credit" drops off after that 7 year period! WE're talking Big Brother or Orwell or how ever you want to put it!. No ticket "drops off" your record, it just moves to a different time in space in the records. Go to your MVR and pay for a 3 year, then a 7 year and then get a lifetime and you'll have everything you did behind the wheel!
I hate to bust a good hoax/rumor but, hey, I've done it in here before and I'll keep on doing it to save all of you grief from a "But I heard" deal! Prove it to yourself and go get one!
To the OP, Good luck and heck if it turns out that money IS a big thing at least you could open a shop and have the apartment up stairs from the shop and you'll be sleeping in your good bed everynight! But a grand a day inking around some nice looking young body and touching such a body....ok cold shower time! Heck, it could be a body only a mother could love and thats not a good thing so I guess trucking is the way to go!
Good Luck
Rollover
OpenRoadGuy Thanks this. -
Great post, Rollover! I'm a truck insurance agent in California and we can run 3 year, 10 year or sometimes even life-time MVR's for a driver. It is true that most insurance companies only look back 3 or 5 years, but it is certainly possible for your employer or their insurance company to go back over your whole driving history. So everyone BE CAREFUL what you do. You will be paying for it for at least 3 years if not more. And what else does the insurance company have to go by? After over 20 years of writing insurance, I've seen very few situations where someone with a lot of tickets on their record didn't end up in an accident. And insurance rates are all about statistics.
Good luck!Rollover the Original Thanks this. -
A suspended license. After you get it back it could hold you back, but there is always that chance. I didn't go to school to drive and most companys won't hire unless you have X number of years exp. I just keept looking and finally got hired. I was an outlaw company that did everything under the sun illegal. It was good money and got the experience i needed. Beware of these companys though, the way they are changing laws these companys will have you loosing your license shortly after you get it.
Also I got hired with no exp. and a DUI on my record. It can be done with some looking. It may not be with the company you wanted.OpenRoadGuy and thelastamericanhippy Thank this.
