    I know, an odd topic.
1995 T800, rims all around have the style for the 2-piece lug nuts. All the spare rims we have use the 1-piece(or single) lug nut.
How difficult would it be to change the steering wheels, to the single lug nut style?

Budd wheels switching to unimount will take new hubs with studs and lug nuts. Most likely will need drums too.

Might as well get the whole hub kit, with races already installed and new bearings. And the Longer studs for aluminum rims. Will be nice anyway, all new seals and bearings, on such an old Truck. Good peace of mind. Slap on new brakes while you’re at it. I’m guessing $1200 at least for all 6. Plus brake shoes. Probably more. I’d call around for prices. Lot of different pricing out there.

    Your right.....

Conmet come loaded and even have the seal in them, ready to bolt on. If its a high mileage truck the bearings proly look like crap anyhow.

The truck has 1,083,000 mi. Have plenty of tires on other aluminum rims, for now I will just swap rubber. Once we get this truck inspected, licensed, and discover how it works doing local deliveries, we may make the change then. Thanks for all the replies.

I swapped it all on my 92 Volvo before I put it on the road. I hada salvage truck with hub pilot hubs on it, so I just swapped it all.

Can be tough to find Budd wheels, even nuts and thimbles anymore.

I may not have described what I have correctly, all the rims we have are 1-piece. No split rims. All the rims we have, only require 1 lug nut. The rims on this one particular truck, has the 2-piece lug nuts on the drives. You know the kind, mount the inner on the axle, drive on the lug nut, then put the outer tire and rim, then drive on the larger outer nut. These type of rims have a slight ‘counter sink’ or bevel for the outer nut to tighten down into. None of our spares, or other trucks have these particular rims.

    You desribed it fine,

You have Old school Budd wheels which are stud pilot or stud centered wheels. To upgrade you need to change hubs to change to Hub piloted wheels with the washered single nut.

Ok, thanks. Then, what are the old, old style called with the ring between the duels, and the five lug nuts with the wedges, are those called ‘Dayton’ style rims?

    Yes.

Also, @Ezrider_48501 has a series on YouTube rebuilding an old Pete. There's a video where he swaps from stud pilot to hub pilot. (what you want to do) So you can get a good idea of what you're looking at. It's not hard. If you're tooled out good enough to change a wheel seal, you can do the swap.
