My 1995 KW T600 Aerodine sleeper , has the old sq style/Ford Ac compressor. Buddy of mine that runs a shop. Told me a few years ago, if I got a truck with this Compressor. To be sure to swap it out when replacing other stuff. To the round style. That he had not seen the Sq ones hold up as good as the rounds do?
Now I have the Series 60 Detroit 11.1 and looks to me like I would need a new Compressor mount also? Or would the round bolt to it also? Have new Condenser, Dryer and Expansion valve ordered. And need to make a choice on the compressor? Only thing that happened to the AC. Looks like a rock hit the Condenser. Punched a hole in the bottom of. And figured while everything is being done now. Might be a good ideal to toss on a new Compressor at the same time.

The old style seemed to last way longer than the new style.
I am referring to the old 2 cylinder AC compressor.

    tnpete and Bakerman Thank this.

The only thing about the old 2 cylinder compressors was you had to watch the back of them to check if the crank was starting to walk out the back.
    Update
    They are called York compressors.
The modern stuff is sanden compressor.
Just check if you have side mount or pad mount.

If the York pumps still work good. I will just go back with one of those. Can get a new one at a great price. Guy bought one, then never used it. Still in the factory box. His truck engine went down, and he scrapped the truck.

I have had both styles or brands. Have had better service with the round (sanden) . Old square (york) worked but never lasted as long. Think had 6 or 7 seasons on a round one. But by the sounds of it, some like the square..so mayby save the hassle of changing the mounts and go for the square. Keep us posted?
