I heard awhile back on "The Lockridge Report" that many of those "new green trucks" bought under the touted legislation in this artical by one certain mega-carrier had never even pulled a container into or out of a Kalifornicateyou port... they're being used everywhere else.

Would have been a good program if those $$$ had gone to independent businessmen. IMO, this is the epitome of greed fed by corporate welfare. Like they actually NEEDED the bucks...

Notice how they will not say what provision they want removed from the current laws, my guess is that it is the one that they are being sued under.
Which is the one saying that the states cannot make rules that interfere with interstate commerce.
If they change it the industry will go down hill faster than it has since de-regulation.
States will be able to create any rule they want without federal oversite.

They will not say that the real problem is that the ports will not pay. The drivers are not bidding for the rates, they are stuck with what they are offered or told to go elsewhere.

Oh, and yes it was swift that got allot of money for trucks and then had not hauled a load out. They were asked to comment before the show was on, but they refused.

Best way to find the answer,
    Follow the money.

Find out who is behind the money.....you find the answer

If you are an employee, the you could choose to have representation............
Unlike being and independent contractor or operator.

If it is possible to understand the grant program (yeah right!) If they are not using the trucks at the ports and can't prove the miles and use in the state, has to be something like 70 percent. then they gotta pay the money back with interest.

It never ends. large corporations fleecing the working person. the o/o working for nothing is the real problem. Take your business els ware and force the big companies to pay. If you have larger expenses pass it on to the rich. These days the big corps think they can pay nothing and blame it on the economy. Just look at their hundreds of millions in pay and bonuses. This country was built on the success of its middle class and, we are losing the middle class We are just a third world country anymore.

It is also funny how they reffer to OOIDA as an inside the beltway lobby group.
They do not seem to understand that the ATA, Teamsters and other trucking lobby groups are not representing the truck driver at all, only there own pockets.

The ones that work for nothing don't last too long...

Those of us that won't work for low rates are usually out here for much longer.

So you are saying that it is perfectly acceptable for a mega carrier to pull loads for $0.75 to $1.00 per mile on average?
