I always get a kick out of the drivers/significant others who work for these "great" companies and have no plans on leaving until their fired. Then the "we gotta stop these big companies" campaign begins!
On a side note if my wife even thought about calling my employer I'd shut that down real quick!
Swift abandoned us!!!!

insertnamehere and Long FLD Thank this. -
You had it coming, run your mouth and threaten to quit and you wonder why they fired you? They called your bluff.
atlasshruggery Thanks this. -
In order to be treated like a professional, you must act like one.
Girlfriends and wives that do not work on the truck have no business calling in on their man's behalf. Nope. Stay out of it. Very, super unprofessional. Not to mention, makes your man look whipped.
If you threaten people over the phone that you're gonna take your toys and go home - you've got no right to complain when they call your bluff.
Pfft. He reaped what he sowed, and so did you. Maybe you'll learn something from it, since it's all over but the crying.TruckDuo, Milkman719 and Mudguppy Thank this. -

What ever happened to personal responsibility. Everyone thinks they are entitled to something now.
Everyone says they are owed more pay, more benefits, etc. They act as If the voluntary sale of their labor is some sort of indentured servitude.
Steinbeck said that " America will never have socialism, because the poor see themselves not as a disenfranchised proletariat, but temporarily embarrassed millionaires."
That type of mindset leads to hard work, self determination, and pride. This ladies line of thinking leads to laziness, begging others to solve your problems, and a sub par life. Sadly she is becoming the norm.tucker, TruckDuo, Mudguppy and 1 other person Thank this. -
"Some violations?" What? Can you be slightly more specific? "Kept rolling, got a load in El Paso?" What? Kept rolling from where? Dispatched, or not? Mean ol' Swift terminated our contract. What? I have a really solid feeling we're not getting the full story here. Swift has a lot of miles to cover, and I know they don't just terminate drivers. They do terminate drivers who are a pain. I worked at Swift for 13 months, solo, 3,000 miles/month, paid (low) on time every Friday, never did yell at Safety, though.

I wonder if he told the new boss about the violations ? Im not sure I would hire someone that just got fired in another state from the one he is from. Plus give them money for car rental and motel. That's probably just me tho.

There is a whole lot more to this story then is being said. I have been here as a l/o going on 5 years now and I have had my battles with DM's and sometimes with safety but never my contract cancelled. I have this feeling that he was routed to a terminal so that they could cancel the contract and get the truck back while still in working order and 1 piece if knowing that he was getting ready to bail and the violations.

I am beginning to question the wisdom of taking the seriousness of a rant with a one time poster. A retaliatory strike at a company should require more than one ranting post that does not seem as though all the facts are facts indeed. It appears that there are a lot more of these in recent days.
