I thought I would add my thanks to leaper. One change between then and now. Summer hours, so we're starting and ending an hour earlier.
What a two days. Yesterday was VERY tough to stay awake. It was a very short night after Swift getting us into the hotel so late. I'm still not sure why, but I plan to talk to Lynn about it very soon. Since it was a holiday, not everyone who is needed for the first day support was working. So the schedule got somewhat flip flopped with today's schedule. A bit of paperwork, some Hours of Service, some videos, Handouts, tour of the facility, and lunch.
Today, after thoroughly studying the subject matter, we had the Drug Test. Some folks had to get physicals. A collection was taken for one guy to get his there - his was from an location not approved by Swift. I had to arrange fax communication to my Dr for a prescription release on a medicine I had a release for already, but it wasn't on Swift's letterhead. I dunno if they got it back or not. I hope to find out.
After everyone got done being 'bottle babies', they gave us each a $5.00 lunch token to the Jake Brake cafeteria. Then we got no time to use the token. Normally the first day would have had time I think. Oh, well, off to MVD. (That's DMV in Arizonian <chuckle> )
MVD. We got there a little after 11. We then stood in line to get our number. At 11:39 my number was 86. When we had walked in, they had just called 36 !! It was almost 2:30 by the time I was called to get my paperwork processed. I managed to keep my Motorcycle endorsement, but had to let Passenger lapse. Also did not get any other endorsements. I had to take Combinations test, and passed it. got a couple wrong when I looked at em and said to myself 'I bet it's that one' and marked a different one. Oh, well. I passed.
Now I'm the recipient of an Arizona Class B and M/C, and learners permit for Class A. Don't look like me in the pic. Took a while to realize it's no glasses and no hat causing that. <chuckle> At least 7 people failed one or more tests out of the remaining 15 or so that I saw there at the same time. They will go back tomorrow morning to re-test. That gives me more time to work on the range when we start tomorrow. Yippee!!, I mean bummer.
Back in room. One guy has left, so I moved to the other room to balance it out. Just as well as it was a bit of a rocky start with the other two guys. They're not bad, just a bit of a rocky start is all. That's all for now. Nighteo.
