I drive for transam and my trucks at 62 but I've hit over 80 and consistently 75...haven't heard no griping from em
Where did you train?? You never coast up to a stop, you need to be in a gear up to the point you finally stop ... you never coast through a turn, you should slow down before the turn then pull through the turn ... traffic you should be in the lowest gear that allows you to stay in gear without constantly shifting. ... and in all of these cases you are not exceeding the governed speed of the truck nor losing the abilty of the truck to pull the trailer. Letting a trailer push you past the capabilty of the truck to pull the trailer is bad habit to get into ... success in this job is about minimizing risk, not compounding it. I saw something on this board when I first registered ... you can go down a hill a too slow a 1000 times, but only once to fast.
I see what you did there!!! Threw in the word "ability" this time! Also, I did my schooling at Truck Nation in Bakersfield,CA... Well half of it, I showed up for school one day and they'de moved out in the midle of the night! They let us drive in circles in a dirt lot about 1/2 an acre in their 1978 frieghshaker that couldnt pass half an inspection! Just picked up my first load thismorning.
Lol, yes nine months now. But, in all seriousness, that is what happened with the "school" I went to. That place was a joke! Also, I see what you mean by passing up the governor, now.
