Local retailer around here doesn't have an installer to do bound stair runners. I am slow. I do a runner and get paid direct from the customer. $325 for 2 1/2hrs work. I supply the grey felt pad and tack strip. No helper needed. If they want the brass stair rods I get $8 a piece to do those. I am a CFI, Karastan, Durkan, certified installer.
Wow, this thread has really taken off. Been out of town for a week and I appreciate all the info and comments. Rug_Trucker, I like MOPAR's too, used to have a '74 Roadrunner. Anyhow, just checked the mail and the HireWrong report was there. There is actaully less information on the report than what I had told Swift about. Strange! Maybe they just aren't interested in me? I have one final option. You guys don't want to hear but it's CRE. Ron
I got my DAc yesterday too. I wanted to see what they had on my MVR. They didn't show that. Woman at talked to there on the phone told me they didn't provide MVR info. She was talking out her a ss. I see everyone I applied to checked my MVR.
They don't do this. If you want to get a copy of your DMV records, you have to go to the DMV for it. DAC, or whatever they are calling it now, only reports employment record, drug testing and accidents.
Last time I talked to Swift they get my MVR from DAC. The print outs I have every company I applied for has each catagory that they requested info on me from them. MVR was checked by all of the prospective employers.
easy/free way to get your mvr: Get a quote for car insurance over the phone. Tell em you have no accidents or tickets, regardless of the truth. When they pull it, they'll be like...umm......you have 5 tickets and 10 accidents. Or if its clean they say nothing. discovered this by accident once.
#### Rug, that was my plan too! Good money in doing stairs, but slow. Still got my binding machine and could look for a new locale, if this trucking thing doesn't work out.
I don't own a binding machine. I Always use Instabind. The runners I usually do are prebound. I just pop them on the steps. Last time I built a custom stair runner for Chris Hope formerly of the Steelers, now with the Titans. It was some 100% wool broadloom. Black with a gold trellis pattern. I trimmed it with a gold nylon rope. I didn't charge enough for that job.
UPDATE: I had found that Hirewrong listed some criminal offenses but did not include the dates of those offenses, so I disputed that fact. If a potential employer is going to see what a bad boy I've been then they should at least know that it was a long frickin' time ago. Not having the dates on there just leaves it too open. Anyhow, called Hirecrap today and they said they removed both offenses completely. I should receive a new report soon. Hmmm, that's cool & everything but now I don't know what to think. If it's not on there maybe I don't need to mention that stuff anymore??? Sometimes I think telling people too much about yourself is a bad idea. Oh, by the way, 17 years, 2 months, and 4 days ago I accidentally crapped my pants. Better put that on the ####ing report too - lol Ron
