JBH was the MONSTER rolls too lol. 4 rolls at 11K each. Did that for 2 years. Once in awhile I'd get 11 of the small ones that were 4K. Everytime I went up to Washington or Oregon, came back to L.A. with the monster rolls. The dude at GP that used to fly around with those things on the forklifts were something. They really motored along. They had all these signs " DO NOT ENTER-RISK OF DEATH ".

I had a 45K load of five rolls shift on me in a construction zone westbound on I-20 in Louisiana a few years ago. I slowed to the recommended speed of 45 mph to initiate the left turn to move over to a single lane in the eastbound side.

It was the middle of the night and I didn't see that the crossover was a good two feet above the level of the freeway until my headlights lit it up. By rights I should have been closer to 30 mph. I felt my way through the hard left turn while going up alright, it was the hard right turn and dropping DOWN that got me.

When we opened the doors in LA a couple of days later we saw that the three rolls over the trailer tandems had shifted left by a foot, which explains why the trailer leaned to the driver's side by 6" for the rest of the run.

Securing a load in a dry van is more difficult than on a flatbed. Whenever picking up a sealed trailer on a drop and hook, assume the driver that left that trailer DIDN'T secure the load. Even if you secured the load you can't inspect securement unless you want to break the seal. With a flatbed you can check load securement by looking in your mirrors and/or checking to see if all your straps are singing Alto.
