Well I reported a trailer while scoping for empties at a receiver. Saw that a front clearance light was smashed to smithereens. i messaged break down that it was loaded and needed repair. They told me thanks and would have the driver routed to a terminal for the repair.

Tell me what is wrong with that statement?

Nicnat2 heres the ruling straight from CSA2010

Myth: If I collect too many CSA “points,” my CDL could be suspended.
Fact: The new scoring system for CSA relies on a severity rating (or “points” system) for each safety violation, but that has nothing to do with your license. The CSA scoring system and the CDL licensing system are separate systems. No matter how many severity points you collect, that in itself will not affect your CDL. Conversely, no matter how many points you accrue on your license, that in itself will not affect your CSA scores

AFAIK there is even some things that can take points off. Like a good roadside inspection.

I believe they are not going to start scoring at 1/1/11. They are going back 2 years.

My paranoid mind thinks the big companies actually like this as they can push the higher paid veterans in the unemployment line.

BTW even a written warning has points assigned to it.

So what is wrong with pulling that trailer to get repaired guys?

Yeah DOT is getting real tough on this crap..a lot more then when I left last Dec....Safety guy told us today that its supposed to kick off next summer so we'll see I guess.Today in class was just a bunch of video's,safety stuff and blah blah blah...I'm ready for my truck and 2morow is the last day of orientation...1 thing they're getting tough on is log's...no more variances at all...oh well...He told us 2day that they expect 65,000 guys will be gone almost instantly when this 2010 happens and a lot of companies going under also....wow...

I was at my school a month ago. They had got ahold of an article saying a 2-400,000 driver shortage come January? Themthat's left might be making some decent $

Ok everyone seems to have a different thought on CSA2010...Since nothing is set in stone yet, things can change...CSA2010 has everything to do with all drivers and companies...if you get enough of these negative points,They will suspend your Commercial License deeming you to be a danger on our roads...for up to 3 yrs...That has everything to do with your CDL...if you don't agree..fine..this is what I'm told by a Safety Manager of 4 different terminals and who knows quite a bit about this...Bottom line, when you get let go or leave a company, the new company has access to your records and if you think they'll take the chance on hiring a person with 45-60 points...Good luck getting a job! Then we'll see who's a safe driver and who's not...If Swift is already starting to help their drivers out, do you think other co's are doing it too? They have to try to retain drivers and see if they'll change. This is a gov't deal and their not playing games anymore...I saw stats on some drivers and just at this terminal their were over 50 drivers with 45 or more points..He said when this rolls out, there will be drivers out of jobs cause they're not willing to risk DOT coming down on them...It is working cause they've got it down under 20 drivers that are close...I don't think anyone wants Uncle Sam watching them but it's gonna happen.....oh well.

Nobody going to answer this one? Break down wants the driver to take it for repairs. I has to be fixed on the spot. If you get caught the trailer goes OOS you get the points and the fine.

Not fair! That is the way this BS law is written. Breakdown should have dispatched a mobile repair company to fix that.

Expensive? You bet! That's the law now. Has been for a while. Our wonderful government in action.

BTW Petro has a book with all the CSA2010 info. IIRC, $16
