Well my DM isnt a bad guy and they have tried to make it up by giving me a 1000 mile trip and 2morow I leave for a 1800 miler...I'll be done by monday and that makes 2900 + and then 2800 + back to back...I guess I can't complain too much....
Wow its been over a year now that I left Swift...I got the miles no problem but I have kids and they couldnt seem to get it in their heads that I need my home time...It was always an issue getting home at all and that didnt make my wife happy when u have to explain to a 5 yr old that daddy isnt coming home....btw....that happened 1 time...
So career change time for you. Good luck to you. Being home with the family is important and not something easily done as an OTR trucker.
It's not that being on the road is hard,but it gets a heck of lot better when they can get you home sometimes...I ran all over the lwr 48 for these Guys and got it in the shorts when it came time for my hometime...I flat out told them not to mess with my hometime and they did...alot!!! It is preached by them that family is most important...just not getting time to see them..oh well I sleep everynight in my own bed now...not a career change though...just closer to home
