Monday was checking out a book now load posted by Swift. Since we’re set up it accidentally booked but it seemed decent. $2900 Ft Worth to Phoenix.
Pick up takes five hours but that’s normal Lineage. I slept pretty good. It’s $300 in detention.
Wednesday 11/09 arrive at Sysco Phx one hour early for appt at 0900. At 1500 they notify me that my appt is cancelled because they’re overbooked.
Swift reschedules appt for noon 11/11. Sit there from 0900 to 1530 before they cancel my appt because they don’t have the room. They say it’ll have to be Monday.
I’ve done a lot of loads for carriers. They tend to have the best detention policy’s and I feel like I get loaded/empty quicker compared to the standard brokers. Obviously, not the case and lesson learned.
The most frustrating part is Swift straight up lies. They didn’t know I checked in this morning. So they sent email oh the manager is waiting at the gate for you. I was at the gate and person there and I had a good laugh about the way they try to manipulate.
Anyways. After ten years I am doing my best to exit the industry.
Swift broker not swift

I can almost see that supervisor waiting there in the guard shack.

You’ll get better service for yourself, by getting an “in” at a big place like Sysco. They haul their own loads. If you have a Sysco close to home, go in and talk to the transportation/traffic department. They always have loads that need covered, but, can’t. It’s why they end up contracting out to a mega. If you can establish a relationship with them, you can stay busy and be taken care of. All the big food distributors are like this. You just need to talk to the right person/people.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
