I'm surprised the railroad industry hasn't resorted to using this sort of thing as an advertising tool.

Kinda hard, when some most obnoxious and discourtous drivers on the road are pulling cans.

rail and trucks are the only real way to move freight, however even if you relied more on rail, rail still requires trucks to move the good from the rail yard to the distribution centers and stores. most of these places dont have track services.

Something else unnecessary; from the article...

Both vehicles then crashed into a Kia Sorento, after which the big rig came to rest jackknifed across the transition road.

A backseat passenger in the Sorento, 6-year-old Kristina Andarus, suffered major injuries in the wreck. Her mother, who had been driving the SUV, told reporters her daughter might be paralyzed.

The child apparently had not been properly restrained in the vehicle, the CHP reported.

Keep your kid properly seated and restrained!

if that is the case its not really surprising. the industry needs to work on its training methods. some of the trainers can barely drive themselves with some only having a couple of years of driving. i personally think students should NOT be required to drive teams. its just downright stupid. some people cannot sleep well while the truck is moving, those types of people generally arent going to team drive when they are done with training anyways. not only that but the thought of having an inexperienced student driving while the trainer sleeps is just a recipe for disaster.

That driver dodged a 4 wheel idiot on probably the worst stretch of interstate in the Southeast. Interstate 20 through Bossier City into Shreveport is a place where you cut your speed to creep and don't attempt anything fancy. In that the driver gave it up to save the life of someone natural selection should have smeared long ago was an example of stellar good driving.
