@dodgeram440rt Look at how butthurt he is from me sharing my experience with MY drivecam that's installed in MY truck. He tries to insult called people "conspiracy theorist ", spitting out Swift rhetoric and this guy doesn't even have a dashcam installed LULZ. Also, I'm the op and I said nothing about Swifts freight. In fact I said I get a good consistent paycheck. What does you never having to sit have ANYTHING to do with a always recording dashcam constantly invading privacy. Then, you say your not a troll who doesn't even drive for Swift. Uh why would you even say that? You sound like a Phoenix higher up or a lying recruiter trying to not make Swift look so bad. Point blank, Swift lied. That camera is always recording during non critical events and the dash cam company (not Swift) sorts through footage and snitches if they see something they don't like.
ANY tampering of the camera equipment is a fireable offense. Then when you go to try and get a new job they will call Swift and ask about you and Swift will say you were fired for destroying or tampering with company property and are not eligible to be rehired by them ever since you were fired for gross misconduct. Good luck with that one.
you have to stand your ground and until we get more drivers who are willing to risk thier job and say no, you will have garbage like this happen. f the mega carriers and their cameras. go get another job.
They can fire you if they like, but if a company told a potential employer that I had damaged or tampered with equipment for covering a camera that would be a lawsuit.
That's probably the worst part of this situation. Swift's lies about the capability and purpose of the camera. During the interview for my current company, my boss told me that drivers behave better when they know they are being watched. And that the camera is always on and always recording. Am I a huge fan, no, but it's a day cab hazardous tanker job and every other company has them. But at least I wasn't lied to. And the high hourly pay makes it worth it. Not sure you could say the same for swift. I've made this challenge in the past and nobody has been able to come up with something compelling, but let's try again: Give me one realistic example of a driver facing camera (NOT a road facing cam) exonerating a driver of liability after an incident.
Covering the camera lense would be considered "Violation of company policy." That's pretty much a "catch all" for anything a company wants to use to fire someone.
And that's fine, you take the risk, you might get fired. You might be able to play stupid for awhile if you aren't ready to switch jobs yet. But getting fired for violating company policy is very different than being fired for damaging or tampering with company equipment.
I really wish some if you would use google and read up on laws before posting bad info. A company CAN NOT TELL SOMEONE WHY AND IF YOU WERE FIRED. They can only say if your rehirable or not and if your work was satisfactory or other. You can sue them if they do!!!!!!! GOOGLE....! PEOPLE! USE GOOGLE! Educate yourself. You have rights as an employee.
And you don't have to tell them you were fired either. You can say you quit. They would never find out.
