their is a chain of command at swift and if you get a worthless DM, you will have to go up it more than once.. either way the DM's have a fleet manager then the terminal manager, then go to phoenix

He really seemed to hit it off well with his DM right from the start. DM promised to research it, but has not responded to any calls or requests since. Just seems odd, like something has changed. But like you said though, maybe it just takes time due to chain of command. And with the fleet being so huge, there are bound to be mistakes. I sure hope it works out too.

You are supposed to just shut up and take whatever crap they throw at you.

 

I too started my training with Swift. To their credit, they do have an excellent driving academy in PHX, AZ....most fun 3 weeks ever....I think Swift has mainly gone into the business of training new students, they are making big money off trainees and their academies. They are good for getting your foot in the door but I know very few long term Swifties. They run you good at first,but it seems they can't/wont give you miles close to a year in. Personally, I think they prefer newer drivers because they don't have to pay them what they would a veteran driver. That's why there is a revolving door with Swift, as is the case with alot of other big trucking companies.

 

It's all a big scam. These companies misrepresent themselves.

They make false promises, and then don't deliver on them.

It is definitely "buyer beware".

I just quit. Was doing a Walmart Dedicated account. I was supposed to be getting 400 miles/day average, didn't work out that way. Last 3 Weeks, had 2000,2200,2500.
It was slipseat. I would stay in the truck for a week and do a reset at home. The trucks were all always nasty. And most of the shop guys sucked as well, the majority of the time stuff was not getting fixed.

 

Huntress, if your husband is out of the Ocala terminal get him to transfer out ASAP. His DM will fight it so get Phoenix involved. I tried getting out of Ocala but between the father/son tag team ( DM & Fleet Mngr) and Scott (the resident idiot) it proved impossible so I moved on. The Columbus terminal rocks so have him request that location.

 

He has over 15 yrs exp,so why is he at a starter company?With his exp surely he had to have known what Swift was like long ago.Heck with his dispatcher,go to payroll.Maybe his DM is ignoring him because he has something to do with the cash advances being taken out.I would be talking to somebody ASAP.
