@TruckDuo swift is a GREAT company when your broke as a mother #### er and need a job. Swift is ok if you like dry van. Swift isn't worth a #### if you need someone in the office to pull their weight. Swift is great to see the country side both interstate and state highways. Swift is ok about maintaining their equipment.

But swift is the BEST when it comes to stirring up a conversation about nothing at all

Think in terms of 24hr periods when trip planning and how far you can get in that time. How to maximize your travel time on a given load so you can finish it ASAP and start on another. Using mac30 to be selective in choosing your loads helps and for the sake of the planners keep your ETA and PTA as accurate as possible all the time so you stay at the "head of the line" so to speak for another load. Shoot for the longest with flexible p/u and delivery times, as most drop-n-hooks do, so you can adapt your driving time to get it done.

Considering those basic items I look for opportunities to start my drive times at 12am. I'll run a solid 10.5 hours with 30 min break and be down by 11am or so. Do my 10 and start rolling again at around 9pm and keep going as more recaps roll over at midnight and so on. That's a simplified outline of course as other variables come into play. I like to run around the clock, especially on a 2000+ mile trip. You should be able to run 650 or so during the first half of the day and another 150 or more that night when you resume.

Works best in upper plains states, central Midwest and southeast where you don't have mountains, traffic at night, construction backups etc.

Granted you can't pull it off in the northeast or mountains if you're heavy and you have to have the right trips that offer the flexibility in managing your drive time during 24 hour periods. More miles run and more money to make.

But you can run 800+ a "day" in a Company truck when you have the right loads.

Yeah I see a lot of what your saying here.
When I said I hardly work a 12 hour day anymore, that's from pre trip to post trip. Yeah I run around the clock too. In fact my best week with swift yet I worked from about 11 at night till around 12 the next day for several days. But this also all depends on the load. Be it drop and hook or live on one end or both. I generally have a preplan the day before or the day of before I deliver. Money is not the issue here, work is not the issue here. Obviously when you look at running two different shifts in one 24 hr period you can run 800 miles. I speak of a day as one shift. One shift being one driving period followed by a 10 hr break.

Ok so a little more fuel for the fire...

I'm supposed to be going dedicated. I talked to the folks on Thurs about it, find a spot for me, and get the ball rolling. Put my truck in the shop, headed home. I get a call from my dm on the way home, when will you be ready for a load. A. My trucks in the shop. B. I'm going dedicated. My dm says ok, I'll push your pta back, talk to your new dm tomorrow. Ok, no problem. Last night a planner called me asking if i was ready for a load or what the deal was. So i explain everything to them. They say well your dm sent me a note to get you running asap, so they pushed my pta back again. I have been trying to get a hold of this guy all day. I left all my info, left a voice mail with all my info, try back 2 hrs later and they say oh he is gone for the day, he'll be back on monday. The shop still hadn't looked at my truck as of noon today, they told me they would atleast have it looked at by 3 on thurs...

Am I the only one that is consist ly running into this ####?

No not at all. Read through some recent posts in the "Good Night From II" thread in the Swift Forum.

The disgust factor is getting waist deep for many of us. I fully expect to be gone from Swift by the end of July as I just can't stomach the increasing BS and incompetence from the people that are supposed to be "supporting" us on the road.

Trust me...I am not a Swift cheerleader. I'm making good money and all but I'm just to weary to keep putting up with all the #### not to mention the driver facing cams on the horizon. That's the last nail in the coffin.

Yeah that's what I hate the most I think is the money is way better than what the talk on the street says it is. Of course lots of those drivers running their head have NEVER worked for swift before. But seriously I would almost say you know what swift, take 100 bucks off the top of my check every week so long as when I have a problem ya'll fix it or atleast point me in the right direction so I can fix it myself. This swift I'm experiencing beats all I ever saw. And I didn't come to swift with a negative attitude about them either. I came into swift open minded and ready to put down some miles... but this #### sucks

My husband is going through the same thing. 2 months in. Already looking elsewhere. Having trouble getting reimbursement for scales too. It was 80 bucks worth, got it down to 50 now. This is the most uncaring company we have ever encountered. Avg. pay checks 450-500. For 7 weeks of training avg 300. We are struggling financially about now.
