If you are keeping track of lies that your recruiter tells you, you might want to get a calculator and really large notebook. As far as I know swift has never had APUs and they aren't planning on getting any.

As far as miles starting out when I started solo in the slow season I was getting 2,000-2,500 miles a week. So long as you work hard and take all the loads they give you, they will run you. It wouldn't be unheard of to get 3,000 miles starting out. Your first couple loads will generally have lots of time on them, just do your best to see if you can deliver early and they will see that you can get it done and they will get you some more miles pretty quickly.

Hubby said no they don't have APU'S and they definitely tested him at first to see what kind of driver he was and the key to his successful miles is to make nice with your driver manager, don't call them just to complain, take every load they give you, always file a Macro 22 if you even think you are going to be late, etc. They will give you loads with long windows at first and the key is to get there asap and see if you can deliver early, not take all the time allotted to get there. I went back to his check history and he was running about 2500 miles a week those first few months. Don't get me wrong, there are times where he's had crap weeks but overall, we've been happy there. He's a company driver for what it's worth.

Swift tested APU units on a few company trucks several years ago. Saw one in Lancaster, driver told me it was a test program. Haven't seen one since.

They also bought a whole bunch years ago, and when they came in, the wrong kind. they were for RV's. Heard that the person paid cash, and that they are still sitting in a trailer somewhere on the yard in PHX.

Thank you for the info! Werner has APU's so that is plus, but I don't think Werner can give me the miles that swift can.

You do not want Werner. Just look at the forums.

Werner OTR trucks don't have APUs. I know this because I try to park next to swift/Werner/sni/Conway trucks for a quiet nights sleep.

    Kusanagi Thanks this.

Really? I just finished 30 months with Swift completely accident free, and got a 70k/year offer with a smaller local outfit out of Phoenix that will mean I'm home every night.

Would I get more miles starting out with Werner or Swift? I know at first they're going to "test" me so I'm just wondering where I might get the most miles.
