You would go to Gary IN for phase 1 flatbed training, then go out with a mentor for 240 hours, with phase 2 training thrown in somewhere along the way. You will start at 26 cents per mile, so your first 6 months won't be that great. After the first 6 months your base pay will be 31 cents, plus a 1 or 2 cent per mile rank bonus, and you will have a better understanding of the way swift does things so you'll be able to run more miles.

I'm not sure about home time or even if they hire for flatbed in that area, call 800-800-FLAT on monday and check. We go to NY/NJ/PA/MA but not too frequently.

I drive for Melton right now. They will start you off at 32 cpm, $40.00 for tarping, and bonuses for fuel, performance, and safety. They have Kenworth 660's with apu's and inverters. Pretty good miles to ... especially those Canada runs.

Make sure to call a flatbed recruiter to ensure you're in the flatbed hiring area. I was going to go flatbed after school and they came back and said sorry your not in the flatbed hiring area.
