Every time theres a fatality, they post it on the Qualcomm. Every time someone gets a reckless, every time theres a bridge hit. And then some office jock want to talk to me about safety and CSA safety.
"YOUR SAFETY SCORE IN NOT MY FAULT."
They cant seem to hear that. Want a good laugh? "Driver, if you have a problem, please contact your DM."
The DM wouldn't understand if I showed pictures and a pie chart. There comes a certain point in the game where the only person that can understand and help you is a driver that's already been where youre trying to go.

Then your going to see Ray. I can tell you roughly what will happen too you now.
You will go to Rays class, he preaches from the aforementioned green bible, take every word seriously. He will mention when something is simply a swift policy. Then you will get a mentor, he may teach you how to do it right, and he may teach you the lazy way. Then you come back to Ray, may be a few days. He will test you, then you will find out who your DM is and get a speech from our ops manager briefly summarised as "run your ### off."
Swift flatbed operates entirely different as I have found out, than the other divisions. There are 9 actual DMs that cover the entire division. Alot of Swift DMs are impersonal. Flatbed DMs are just the opposite. And what's more interesting, your not going to have planners, you will have one planner, your reputation is worth alot more in this division. Don't be afraid to ask your DM questions, these guys expect it. Your a new flatbedder, and a new driver.
And hide that 2nd cheater good. You'll find out what I mean. -

The rachet bar is decent for tightening things down. Great idea for that. But on the other hand taking all those pretty yellow straps off..............
Just give me the "if I break something I deserved it form"
But yes, for the Phoenix yard especially, dont get caught in the flatbed section without high vis and plastic hat and saftey glasses if your near a bungee. Even the FB equipment office.
But I signed up for it, and be ###### if I'm not going to give em a good show for it. -
"You just have to know how to run and make sacrifices."
"I want to be the best driver I can be."
Those two statements right there make me really suspicious.
I strongly suspect that you "get it" and that you're going to have an actual career in trucking.
Good luck and welcome aboardLast edited: Oct 30, 2016
