Yeah. Unfortunately I'm a poor boy and have to go to a company paid training so I will get slave wages for a while.

Dude there are other ways. I hate to see somebody have to live on those wages.
Its a #### shame that these big carriers use up people who just want a job like that.

Sam Hell and bigjoel Thank this.

Working at McDs my highest pay year was $11,000 during my third year there. I'm currently on track to make $35,000 for my first year wih Swift. So how is 11,000 more than 35,000?

    Sam Hell Thanks this.

If people would start saying no to this garbage, these bottom feeders wouldn't be able to do this crap.

Just spoke with my recruiter at Swift and she said yes you can go from academy to FB but there might be a bit of a wait for a mentor.

There are ltl carriers you can go to work for and start out on the loading dock and work your way up.
There are carriers that have class a and b trucks; you can get a class b license with a u- haul- and then ask them to help you get your class a.
You can get your permit on your own; where I live it costs about $50 for everything except hazmat, because of the whole background check crap.
My point is that you don't have to spend $6,000 or become an indentured servant to be a truck driver.
    .26 cpm is crazy!!!!
You can make over $40,000 driving a home heating oil delivery truck.
Why would anybody live in a truck for $400 a week?

    Sam Hell Thanks this.
